Pam Giardina, LCSW, comes with thirty years of experience working with children and families facing stress. She spent twenty-five years as a Child Life Specialist at Arkansas Children's Hospital helping children and families cope with trauma, hospitalization, surgical procedures, and chronic illnesses. Obtaining a masters degree in social work was a way to develop and utilize her extensive experience outside of the acute care environment. She now uses evidenced-based therapies to help children, adults, and families with trauma including sexual abuse, physical abuse, life-changing accidents, and death.

We have all been going through so much over the last four years with COVID and world wide traumas. I am a “baby boomer” and a survivor of COVID. I understand the anxiety we all feel with so many unknowns and so much grief and loss. We are all on a journey of recovery. I can help with that journey. I care and have the training and empathy to be a guide towards health. My therapuetic style is holistic: focusing on a mind, body and spiritual connection. I work with my patients to promote positive change; we are partners on the journey. Most of my sessions are online which is very convenient for my patients. I am very good at my job.

About me, the counselor: I graduated from John Brown University with a masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2017. I am a Registered Play Therapist (trademarked) often working with children, adolescents and their families. Across the lifespan, I am skilled in EMDR useful to treat many types of traumatic experiences. With all clients, I use a person-centered approach, believing that each of us holds the key to our own growth and healing.

Marisa values compassion and connection in the counseling office. Marisa aims to help those that sit with her to answer the questions that led them to counseling, as well as experience the change and healing they've been searching for. She believes that each person is created for healthy relationship and prioritizes working to build such with those in her office. She especially enjoys working with adult children of immature parents and young women (ages 16-35) who are struggling with family of origin issues, stressful life transitions, co-dependency, trauma, and more.

My work as a psychologist is devoted to helping adults and adolescents manifest the fulfilling lives they want for themselves. My clients struggle with a variety of issues including anxiety, stress, depression, addiction, grief, relationship problems, trauma, spiritual/creative blocks, or the inability to feel happiness or serenity. It is difficult to change habitual ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving so my work encourages more effective coping, relationship/stress management skills, and self nurturing. I offer a supportive environment for exploring how past experiences are being re-enacted in the present. By making these connections conscious, the past can be released.

I believe everyone has the capacity for change. Often times we need guidance, or a gentle push, to get there. I offer a safe and welcoming environment for you to process and create realistic goals for where you are today. I believe all can benefit from therapy throughout their lives, to help support, encourage and cheer you on in your journey.

I have a passion for helping millennial women and men who are ready to move forward in life by creating work-life balance, achieving personal growth, and developing tools to navigate life transitions. My goal is to help others find peace in their lives. I love working with families who struggle to maintain a calm home because It Is Hard! Sometimes we find it’s ourselves that block peace. I also very much enjoy helping all ages individually find out what triggers them and how to regulate to find peace in themselves.

At any point in our lives, we can experience circumstances that lead to needs beyond our immediate environments. My passion is bringing others those needs that promote healing, empowerment, and growth. I help my clients gain healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen relationships in all environments.

I have over 25 years of mental health experience. I am also a long-term meditator (30+ years), certified meditation instructor, and the author of Pursuing Purpose: A Guide to Finding Meaning Through Meditation. My ideal client is someone who struggles with the challenges of modern living and seeks ways to live a more meaningful life. I specialize in Equine Therapy as well as traditional office psychotherapy. I take a mindfulness approach to "holding space" for my clients. I also recently completed an externship and Core Skills in Emotion Focused Therapy which allows me to do some pretty tough work with couples seeking joint therapy. I am also undergoing supervision for Trauma Focused CBT.
