These life experiences help to inform my work with those experiencing trauma, loss, transition and grief.
Humans are by nature social animals and yet many of us have lost connection within ourselves and our community. I believe this is due, in part, to a frantic world that has led to relational trauma, a poor sense of self, health challenges, addiction, loss and isolation. Feeling relevant, finding meaning, having a mission, knowing joy and learning emotional regulation/tolerance/resiliency are ways in which we can heal ourselves and the world at large. I work with individuals (adults only) and couples.

I often work with adults, teenagers and couples who struggle with self-esteem, trauma, grief, substance use, depression, and anxiety.
Healing is messy, and it’s also beautiful! You may feel stuck in a cycle that’s painful and no longer serves you, or you have a desire to look further inward. No matter the reason that brought you, I am glad you are here. It is 100% okay to ask for help, no matter what people have told you. Challenges are inevitable in life and are often a cue to action. When challenges go unresolved or unaddressed, they may get in the way of how you feel about yourself. The good news is there are many things you can learn and unlearn about yourself and the world you live in. I will support you through that learning and healing process.

Throughout our life’s journey, we may encounter various stresses that challenge us—experiences of grief, depression, and anxiety may frequent as we navigate this terrain on our path to mental health and well-being. Engaging in the process of counseling can be intimidating as you move through feelings of sadness, despair, loneliness, and periods of expansion and contraction. As an Existential- Integrative Therapist, it would be my honor to walk with you as you transcend these challenges and reclaim your autonomy, experiencing wholeness, enhanced connectedness to self and others, and rediscover meaning and purpose in life.

I work with adults and couples impacted by childhood trauma, intrusive thoughts, anxiety and panic, relationship issues, codependency, identity confusion, low self esteem, and grief/loss.
During the course of our lives we experience many joys and hardships, and along with them the full range of human emotions. Each moment and feeling is an opportunity to better understand self, other, and the world. Your painful feelings may be signals that old wounds need to be acknowledged or that your truth is not being lived fully. If you are currently struggling to cope with life challenges, feeling unfulfilled or seeking personal growth, the therapeutic relationship can provide an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere to explore the body and mind in a safe, comfortable space.

Hi! Each of us walks our own path. I primarily use IFS (Internal Family Systems) and can help you reconnect and build relationships with all parts of yourself. I can offer you a pathway to your inner world and journey alongside you as we rediscover what was lost, returning to parts stranded in dark corners of the past with tenderness and compassion. The majority of my experience includes working with childhood trauma, neglect, depression, anxiety, codependency and grief. As a first-generation Middle Eastern American, I wholeheartedly understand generational trauma, cultural burdens and identity conflicts that keep us feeling lost.

Loss and grief transforms into opportunity and reward.
Finding yourself is a complex and ultimately rewarding journey affecting mind, body and soul. It requires listening to the sadness and confusion when life has become meaningless, depressing, anxiety ridden and overwhelming. Our potential lies in the unconscious with its knowledge. This can be revealed through the Jungian analytical approach aimed at the present distress as it opens to future development. There we discover unknown personality aspects, the limiting attitudes, complexes and patterns working no longer. Their transformation moves us into our more authentic self. From this comes joy, creativity and hope.

My approach incorporates the techniques of mindfulness, expressive arts, sand tray techniques, self-compassion practices, Dialectial Behavior Therapy (DBT), parts work, grief work, psychodynamic exploration, and yoga.
I understand that starting a new therapeutic relationship can be a vulnerable process. I take a welcoming, empathic, and nonjudgemental approach. Therapy is the opportunity to slow down, pay attention, and listen deeply to the heart, which can be incredibly healing.

Danielle LaPorte asked the question best, “Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?” Can you remember when you loved and accepted yourself unapologetically, and embraced all the things about you that make you unique? As we age, we gain knowledge from life experiences and through those experiences we can soar to greatness or we can break and lose sight of who we really are and become someone we were never meant to be. When we become someone less than who we were meant to be we can begin to experience anxiety, depression, substance abuse, loss of relationships and functional distress.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
