Hello! I am Kelly and I'm so glad you are here. There is no roadmap to this adventure we are on. Life can be hard and sometimes just overwhelming. Maybe you need to quiet the "inner bully or mean girl" inside that tells you that you are not good enough. Maybe explore how your childhood trauma affects your relationships or creates anxiety and depression in your life. Maybe your relationship with alcohol needs to change. Maybe you are just feeling like you don't know your purpose or you are unhappy with your current situation. YOU are the expert on your life and I am here to help you find your joy and live your best one.

Relationships can be challenging. Sometimes we want to give up and just move on, while other times we want to heal and work through the challenges with our partner. Neither choice is wrong; whatever feels right for you is what I would like to help you navigate. Whether that involves learning skills to explore a decision, tools to enhance communication, resolving conflict, processing trauma, or learning how to connect more deeply; I am right there with you to provide an empathetic, nurturing environment that allows opportunities for self-exploration and growth. I understand the dilemma you may be facing and what you're going through.

My ideal client is someone who feels emotionally dysregulated, has lost their sense of identity, and no longer finds joy in activities they once enjoyed. They may feel lost or be experiencing a significant life transition. These individuals are seeking to reconnect with themselves, discover their purpose, and live a meaningful life. They are eager to experience healthy emotions and foster positive connections and relationships. They are open to new possibilities and are willing to explore what a different, fulfilling life could look like. These clients are committed to healing from their trauma and continuing on a growth journey.

My ideal client would be any person that is in need of someone to talk to. They want to feel heard and understood. They have an idea of what they would like to talk about and what they would to see for their own future. Even if they are one hundred percent sure what they want, they are willing to talk about it. Also I think that it is important to be open to the idea that therapy can be fun!

*ONLY ACCEPTING FIRST RESPONDERS AT THIS TIME* Are you dealing with depression, anxiety, and/or unresolved trauma? Are your coping skills no longer working or do you find them doing more harm than good? When one is so overwhelmed by their problems it can be very difficult to find the solution to the problem. We as humans will look at the same old situation with old ideas and old perspectives. It can be helpful to get a FRESH, NEUTRAL perspective to that old situation. Together, we can break the dysfunctional cycles of self-doubt, negative self-talk, low self-esteem among other areas of difficulties.

I am passionate about relationships and would love to be able to help anyone struggling in any relationship. I am currently an intern student completing my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at National University. I implement a variety of evidence-based modalities when working with clients. I appreciate how Emotionally Focused Therapy focuses on how our early experiences inform how we engage in adult relationships (our attachment styles) and how to change the negative interactional cycle that we often find ourselves in.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
