I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Accelerated Recovery Treatment ( ART) and my psychodynamic orientation helps cleanup trauma on the subconscious level so you don't have to relive the trauma.
I have been a mental health professional for over 25 years. Being the only Deaf Specialist for many years in the valley I had to learn a lot of skills as there was no other place to refer the Deaf to so I have a lot of experience in the following: Trauma, Eating Disorders, Mood Disorders (anxiety, depression, bipolar and more). Starting a new company to focus on patient treatment and therapy, my first love. So come on over and lets change your life for the better!

I always st art with where a client is and move through a process of self awareness and discovery that brings about lasting change and newfound joy. While that is not an easy process it is a journey I have found worth taking in my own life and feel honored to take in another's. I do not believe in a "cookie cutter" approach to recovery or self actualization. Each person I work with brings a special "psychological fingerprint" that encompasses both their past and their present life experiences. I look forward to traveling the path with you.

Life can be unpredictable at times and it’s always okay to ask for help. Therapy can help explore skills to help manage life in all its ups and downs. Through utilizing an eclectic approach with emphasis on interpersonal behavioral and strengths-based practice, we can identify goals and potential solutions to problems that cause emotional turmoil. My approach is to allow clients to enter a safe environment, gain trust in themselves, and live their true authentic lives. I enjoy using a holistic approach. Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
