Our changing world brings with it joys and opportunities, but also challenges and anxieties. We try our best as parents, and caregivers to protect our children from the most challenging aspects of life, and provide them with skills to deal with the rest. Most of the time we are up to the task, but there are times when we all could use a helping hand. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, or depression, avoiding following adult directions, involved in fights at school or at home, or something happened in their lives that is beyond their current ability to cope with - I am here to help.
No child comes to therapy alone. When working with children, I engage with the child's entire support system (families, schools). I utilize my training in play therapy, CBT, and EMDR to address their struggles, and offer relaxation exercises to assist with stress management and self-regulation for more immediate relief and as foundation for treatment.
Many of the children and families I work with, report a sense of relief, once they have a better understanding of their child's struggle, and a way to address it, which can happen after very few sessions. I am happy to speak with you to see if we will be a good match.
