I have expertise in integration of religion in counseling, both positively and negatively. So I actively integrate clients' Christian faith for those who seek it - in both techniques and goals (cf. spiritual maturity = balance of openness and commitment to God, self and others), while recognizing unbalanced religion is often part of clients' abusive past. So I work with my clients' values and refer out the few who can't work with mine.

Are you in a place where you desire to feel known and understood? Have you went about your day and questioned how did I arrive in this place? Does it seem like no matter what you do to experience a different outcome, you find yourself in the same cycle? Well, guess what? You are not alone! Life can be complicated but the beauty about life is that we do not have to walk in our valleys alone. If you have tried to conquer your mountain and still find yourself searching for peace and contentment, give me a call! I am here to walk with you and be present on your journey. Being at this step right now to seek help is courageous of you!

I would see mid teens to late twenties. The primary issue would be trauma. Some goals to have would be behavior change and challenging unhelpful thoughts. The idea behind this would be to decrease the impact that the trauma is inflicting by increasing the individuals sense of control over their life.

Greetings. I'm Yulonda Ross and I specialize in Substance Use Disorders and I provide counseling for anger management as well. Are you struggling with trying to quit using alcohol and drugs? Has your relationship been affected by your substance use? Is all of your leisure time consumed with using? You’re probably full of emotions, questions, and doubts. You may be wondering what I do now; is there any hope; and is it even possible to get better? You may be feeling overwhelmed, scared, and stressed. People do overcome substance abuse and return back to a healthy lifestyle. I’ll help steer you in the right direction.

Talk therapy alone can often fall short. Have you ever asked yourself, “Why do I find myself stuck in this cycle?!”. I get it! Consider this: Talk therapy alone cannot access the part of your mind where trauma, anxiety, and depression are stored! Perhaps you need more tools to get the freedom you seek! In addition to weekly therapy, I also offer 1, 2, or 3-day custom therapy intensives. An intensive provides tremendous traction instead of starting and stopping so frequently in weekly sessions.

I believe that the answers are inside you, but they get confused and lost among life's daily battles. They get buried under the opinions of bystanders who don't have to walk in your shoes and experts whose life looks nothing like yours. My goal as a therapist is to help you hear YOU. To clear space where that small voice that knows you better than anyone else, can finally be heard. My job is to listen, to see if you're hearing what I'm hearing and to reflect back where your heart and your head aren't matching up.

Having been around the world, I know two things to be true: human suffering knows no culture or class, and the need for connection is universal. We are not meant to do life alone, and times of struggle can be such painful illustrations of that. By the time you seek out therapy, you have probably been at this for some time, white-knuckling the steering wheel of life, and adapting in the only ways you know. When you doubt your strength, know the courage it took to get here is not lost on me.

My ideal client has been through some really hard stuff, and knows what it is like to struggle through the pain. They are seeking therapy because they need support to overcome obstacles in their painful memories and/or in their current relationships - romantic, familial or vocational. They want their counselor to really see and value their individuality and autonomy, as well as the ways they are connected to the world around them. In addition to my work as a therapist, I served in the Arkansas Army National Guard for 10 years. I am really passionate about helping active duty military personnel and Veterans.

I know it can be hard dealing with constant overthinking and uncertainty. Are you looking for solutions? Do you feel like nobody understands you or wants to listen? Or maybe you have a hard time dealing with your emotions? Your first step is to THINK about what you want and need. Second step is to TALK about your issues and concerns. Third step is to RELEASE what you need to allow yourself to be in a different space.

After thirty years of practice as a psychotherapist and twenty years of teaching graduate students my primary goals remain the same: I intend to help clients discover their own strengths and resources. I enjoy empowering clients to confidently utilize their abilities to improve the quality of life and experience healing recovery from crises. An ideal client allows me to work jointly with them in a partnership to enjoy a sense of their own worth and resilience.

Shame is a minefield. It can steal our joy, kill our belief that we're worthy of healthy relationships and destroy who we see in the mirror. I've fought those battles in my own life and I know how easily they can leave you feeling hopeless, stuck, and resigned to destructive patterns. Together, we'll tackle the lies that life's traumatic moments have used to shape your story. We'll dig through the depression and reclaim your identity. We'll stand together against the anxiety and craft a plan for forward motion. Most importantly, we'll find hope that the change you need is possible.

There are times in everyone's life when we need to talk to someone outside of our situation. When life get rough, difficult, or confusing no one has to face it alone. I work with clients to aid them in reaching their specific personal goals or just being an objective ear to listen to them and try to provide a different perspective. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy and use a variety of techniques tailored to meet my client's needs.

No one comes out of childhood without bumps and bruises. No matter how loved you were, no one's caregivers are perfect. Even though you've grown and have come a long way, you still feel a sense of unease with the way things are. Your wounds affect the way you see the world and how you show up in your relationships. You find yourself both sensitive and numb. You may not always be able to access your emotions, even with the people who care about you. You've done your best to adjust with the things that you've been given, but you feel like you can't move on until you gain clarity about what you've been through.

Life is hardest when we’re alone in our struggles and pain. We’re wired to bond with others and find safe connections with the ones we love. But sometimes it's hard to feel safe. And when we don't feel safe all sorts of negative emotions find their way to the surface. Anxiety, depression, sometimes even behavioral ruts like anger and shame. We just get stuck. And many times it seems like the harder we try to get out of these ruts, the more stuck we seem to get. But we all want the same things in our relationships. To be seen. To be heard. Are you there for me? Can I count on you? These are healthy goals!
