If you are in a crisis or life storm, and left feeling helpless, hopeless, or disappointed; there is HOPE. No matter what stage of life you are going through, or how scary the feelings and situations can be, brainspotting can help. I have been trained in brainspotting and have seen firsthand the healing it can bring. Our brains our powerful and unique, but often store unfinished business and unprocessed trauma which leaves emotional scars inside or even physical pain. But with this approach, you can leave feeling relieved and hopeful with quick responses.

I believe clients DESERVE to be treated fairly and honestly. I prefer to work with my clients to help them achieve the life of their choosing, not my choosing. We all have an idea of what we want in life and how we want our lives to be, "our ultimate goal". Many times in life we experience obstacles and challenges which can interfere with us reaching that goal and making the most out of life. We will work together to help you achieve "YOUR ULTIMATE GOAL"!!!

Hope is my goal, because it changes everything. It gives you a reason to take another step. It gives you the strength you need to make tough changes. It helps you realize that there are things worth fighting for. That's why we'll focus on what can be done next, not beating yourself up over the past. We'll focus on your value of your future, not what the past has cost you. The future is the only thing you can truly change, so let's grab hold of it together and change what you think is possible.

I work from the belief that people hold within themselves the ability to change. Often our greatest change comes at times of transition. Transitions -- be they of community, health, age, gender identity, or relationship origin -- present a need for careful decision-making and support. When confronted with hard challenges, many of us need someone simply to assist us in looking at our lives, recognizing our strengths and supports around us, and developing strategies to bring about the change we desire.

Sometimes it feels like no matter what we do, how hard we think, or how much we pray, the change we need in our life remains just out of reach. This feeling of hopelessness can make it difficult to simply get out of bed in the morning, much less enjoy the parts of our life that we know should bring us joy. Even the smallest negative events can trigger reactions and sadness we don’t understand and it can quickly feel like we're losing control over our lives. Often, we turn to unhealthy ways of coping, stay trapped in broken relationships, and even lose our will to fight.

Your life is a challenge. I'm here to help you meet that challenge. At our first meeting, expect that you'll feel comfortable in an environment that stress-free with no judgement. If we can't change your perspective, let's try changing your situation. We'll process cycles of emotional and behavioral problems in an effort to lead lives that are happier and more fulfilling. At the end of therapy, our goal is to reduce the impact of previous and on-going negative influences on your life.

My ideal client is any person struggling emotionally with anxiety, depression, identity issues and family conflicts. These are just a few of my passions in assisting clients to learn skills for a more emotionally fulfilled life. This begins by improving self-worth and self-esteem through setting attainable goals geared to each individual needs in order to reach their potential self. Life can be puzzling at times and a challenge to learn how to put the pieces back together in a functional way where you can "Thrive" and not just survive.

Are you living your "best life possible"? When we struggle in relationships, with trust and anger and control, or we feel misunderstood, avoid certain situations, or feel overwhelmed, life becomes more difficult than it has to be. Motivating ourselves to do anything is too much when our mind feels like a "tangled ball of yarn". There are different causes of these situations - current or previous trauma, depression, anxiety, abuse of alcohol or drugs, staying in unhealthy relationships or other possible reasons. Working through the causes can help "untangle the ball of yarn" and allow you to live your "best life possible".

It would be nice to experience anger and have a purpose for it; to experience anxiety without it shutting you down; to have an urge and still feel in control; or to experience sadness and not have it overtake your entire day/week/month.
In my work, I have found it is common for people to question if they are “crazy” or if something is “wrong” with them. More often than not, the answer is “no.” No, you are not crazy. No, something is not wrong with you. In fact, I wager quite the opposite is true. You are a survivor.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
