Living with anxiety can feel like there are too many internet tabs open in your mind. Or like you're standing in a crowded place and nobody senses the danger but you, as your heart races and your mind jumps from worry to worry. You feel overwhelmed even when you think there is no reason you should be. Anxiety steals your identity and leaves you feeling lost and off-balance. Some days, just existing is exhausting. If this sounds like you, I see you. I know how it feels to live with anxiety, and now I help others learn to overcome it too. I would love to help you regain control over your life so you can enjoy it again.

F. Bea Wallace, MS LPC. I use CBT and person-centered therapy techniques. I use motivational interviewing. I listen actively and offer empathy and compassion while helping the client learn to make better choices. For children, I sometimes use CBT techniques in a more playful, and engaging manner. When using Person-centered therapy with children I attempt to create a safe space for them to express themselves. When working with adults, I tend to delve more deeply into cognitive and emotional processes with CBT, this technique helps adults challenge and reframe their thoughts.

Are you living your "best life possible"? When we struggle in relationships, with trust and anger and control, or we feel misunderstood, avoid certain situations, or feel overwhelmed, life becomes more difficult than it has to be. Motivating ourselves to do anything is too much when our mind feels like a "tangled ball of yarn". There are different causes of these situations - current or previous trauma, depression, anxiety, abuse of alcohol or drugs, staying in unhealthy relationships or other possible reasons. Working through the causes can help "untangle the ball of yarn" and allow you to live your "best life possible".

We all have times that events take a toll on us mentally and emotionally. In some aspect we may try to push them down or avoid the existence of the issue. Maybe we have associations of weakness or feelings of inadequacy if we acknowledge those feelings or issues. I’m an LPC, CFRC with 12 years previous experience as an EMT and Volunteer Firefighter. I am EMDR level 1 & 2 trained for trauma and PTSD therapy. Beyond responder therapy, I have experience with sexual abuse, codependency work, healing the inner child, and promoting your own self-worth.

I work with clients who are female, male, and nonbinary.
I'm Karen Fry, LCSW. I’ve been a therapist for a long time (18 years) and I love what I do. I graduated with a Master of Social Work degree from UALR in 2006. I see my profession as a calling. One of my greatest joys is working with someone who begins to see that they have the power to change their life and find healing. The theories and skills that we practice can lead to healing and change. I know because I’ve learned to practice the skills and theories in my own life. I live in Little Rock and enjoy spending time with my two adult kids. I enjoy walking/hiking and bicycling on the Arkansas River Trail.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
