I primarily use a psychodynamic, attachment based approach to therapy that is tailored to each client's unique needs.
Whatever is troubling you, know that you are not alone. The majority of us have been struggling in some way lately. You may have noticed an increase in unwelcome symptoms such as anxiety, anger, fear, or depression. Although we hate to experience these symptoms, they can be like guides for us, telling us that it is time for some good growth. I can support you on this journey.

As an experienced psychologist I am versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal (IT) and psychodynamic therapies as well as other modalities and use a multi-modal approach & techniques tailored to each specific circumstance or situation.
I believe in a collaborative approach to psychotherapy focusing on clients' current needs and goals. Together we work to solve troublesome situational or long-standing problems leading to living one's best life now. Using client-centered methods, we begin with each individual's unique point of view to address a range of problems such as depression/anxiety, life crisis/life stage, relationships, parenting, trauma resolution/post trauma (PTSD) and provide understanding. Relationship issues are often at the heart of the matter and the opportunity is provided here to focus and improve upon them in a safe and confidential setting.

In order to help clients access these resources I utilize empirically proven techniques within an attachment-based, humanistic and psychodynamic framework.
Today is the day you have decided enough is enough! Taking this first step takes a great deal of courage, and you will need courage for the journey you are about to embark upon. It could be a life transition that has you feeling lost, or you may find yourself stuck, repeating the same patterns and suffering from the same symptoms (anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, etc.). The fact that you have found this page means that you are ready to find relief, contentedness, and even joy, and I am so excited for you!

I am EMDR Certified and I integrate EMDR, ego state work, somatic work, and psychodynamic interventions in my therapy.
Identity exploration is the heart of transformative therapy. You absolutely deserve to feel grounded in who you are, and it is my privilege to help clients explore the patterns or hardships causing inner turmoil. People often come to me with histories of emotional abuse, difficult upbringings, or toxic romantic relationships. Some feel stuck or alone in their current circumstances, and they want help navigating a tender transition. The introspective nature of therapy can be vulnerable, but the healing is often profound. Wherever you are on your journey, I will strive to help you build a more authentic and meaningful life.

My belief is that most people, if not everyone, can benefit from mental health services during at least one point in their lives. Life can be very challenging, but people are strong and, inherently, survivors. However, sometimes the ways we adapt and survive become unhelpful in our everyday lives, and we need a safe, neutral, knowledgeable, and unconditional person to help us walk through recovery to healing. I enjoy and feel honored when I get to be that person for another human being. Please contact me if you think I would be a good fit for you and your life's challenges and/or healing process.

If you feel like something isn’t right and you are considering therapy - welcome! The toughest part is realizing that something really can change, and that you might need a little help to get where you want to be. The truth is, we all need a little help to get where we want to be.

I believe we are all writing chapters in our lives which make up our story. I believe our stories are powerful, unique, and deserve the opportunity to be heard. There may be times when a chapter in our story needs some assistance with editing or revising. Sometimes, we may not feel ready to write the next line or scared of what the previous chapter meant. That is where I find beauty in the counseling process. Counseling is a guide to help you experience your story so that you can gain awareness, implement change, and grow.

Change can happen the moment you decide to move toward it, as you may be doing right now. My role is to help you find your personal power and express it, while releasing beliefs, emotions, and habits that do not serve your true self. I want to help you develop your creative and productive skills to create the life you want, while providing emotional support through your journey. I work with many clients learning they are neurodivergent later in life, many that struggle adapting to college, and clients working toward body acceptance.

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
