Hey there! So often the emotions that come with life's challenges are too much to navigate on our own. I'm here to be a companion and guide. I have seen a spectrum of clients from different backgrounds and stages of life. Some common issues I work with are anxiety, depression, life transition, trauma recovery (specifically abuse) relationship issues, and body image challenges. I have worked with individuals ranging in age, parents and teens, and couples. I have openings for weekly clients and intensives. Intensives are custom made to fit your needs. We can set up a half-day, full-day, or multiple days, depending on your goals.

I am passionate about being a guide and counsel for others as they deepen and clarify their life, and I want to aid in their search for meaning, connection and contentedness. I have maintained a private counseling practice for over 30 years. I work with individual, relationship and family issues. Cognitive behavioral strategies are utilized for skills training such as anger management, stress reduction, communication skills, and emotional regulation. Couples counseling and stepfamilies are areas of special interest. Theoretical perspectives in these areas include interpersonal relations concepts such as object relations theory and relational psychodynamics. Individual counseling focusing on depression, mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, substance use, and personality concerns tend to be approached from a psychodynamic psychotherapy perspective.

I have a passion for working with clients experiencing shame, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I’ve seen how these can manifest in a variety of ways, from problems with work and school, to rocky relationships, to substance abuse, to isolation. I’ve worked with folks dealing with prison reintegration, homelessness, grief, and rejection due to gender and sexuality. I believe everyone has the innate ability to change. My role as your therapist is to facilitate change in areas you want to see improvement. I work from a person centered approach which is a nondirective, empathic approach that empowers and motivates the client in the therapeutic process. Rather than viewing people as inherently flawed, with problematic behaviors and thoughts that require treatment, person-centered therapy identifies that each person has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change. I take clients ages 12 and older effected by anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relational issues and work stress.

I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Arkansas and have served the mental health needs of the Northwest Arkansas area since 2004. I am clinically trained in building and maintaining relationships and have years of experience providing counseling services in the Northwest Arkansas and River Valley school districts. I have provided therapy to clients of all ages, maintaining the purpose of "meeting the client where they are at" to ensure a foundation of empathy and a safe place to process through life struggles.

I have experience working with adults, children, and families, in-home & outpatient settings. Approaches & techniques which may be incorporated into sessions include those found in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Child Parent Psychotherapy, & Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), relaxation techniques, and play therapy techniques. As one of a limited number of providers in Northwest Arkansas with training in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), I assist sufferers of trauma, abuse, neglect, and many other distressing experiences improve functioning and healing relationships.
