I am a mental health professional certified in TF-CBT, trained in Internal Family Systems, Grief Informed therapy, and Anger management.
Crying is okay. Emotions are okay. It is okay to feel. If you do not like where you are mentally, spiritually, or emotionally then you do not have to stay in that place of misery or despair. When a bone is broken or a ligament is torn, we seek medical support for physical healing. When feeling overwhelmed in a heartless world, lonely in a room full of people, struggling to sleep due to dreams of unforgettable events, or avoiding smells, sounds, or places because it forces you to relive dreaded moments. In those moments who do you find for support? With support, you will find inner peace, strength, and a better version of yourself.

I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible mentors who have helped me develop the heart and skills necessary to treat grief, traumas, anxiety, depression and relationship issues.
There was a time in each of our lives, before hurt and fear took over, when our hearts were whole. For some of us, the pain is new and unfamiliar. For others, it’s been there as long as we can remember. For my clients, it’s something that they’ve decided to stop running from and to face it head-on. Whether you’re an individual picking up the pieces of a broken heart, or a couple or family trying to keep your world from falling apart, I’m ready to help you conquer your past. I can help you regain emotional control to breath and feel present and whole again.

I have experiences in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, loss and family problems.
Counseling is beneficial for anybody, even if you just need someone to talk to about stressors. To be honest, life be "life-ing!" Fear is an intense emotion that paralyzes and influences inactivity and sometimes we just get STUCK! We are continuing to become who we are everyday and at times we just are not okay. I'm ready to listen when your ready to share

If you are looking at this page you are taking the first brave step toward help. Distress is not a choice, but getting help is. I believe that therapy is about change, hope and reconnection. Often times devastation of betrayal, abandonment, divorce, disease, or death can change you instantly. Your struggle is part of your story and I want to hear it. Perhaps anger, depression and anxiety are constant companions. Sometimes others only see what we allow them to see and that is just the tip of the iceberg, the real pain and emotions are below the surface. Past trauma or current stressful life situations can make us feel stuck.

Creating change is about embracing your future, not beating yourself (or others) up over the past. As a therapist, I focus on helping you figure out what "better" looks like and identifying the quickest route to get us there. Once we have that identified, I'll act as counselor, coach and traveling companion as you journey down that road. I'll be a fresh set of eyes that helps you figure out when you're being too hard on yourself and when you need to take a hard look in the mirror.

As a therapist who’s worked in the field for over 20 years, I look forward to helping others be the best version of themselves. I understand a variety of mental health issues due to working with various positions within the mental health field. I feel all my roles have given me the path to meet people where they are, assess the need and use the skills I have learned along the way. I believe in the process, understand setbacks, flaws and not being ok. I utilize strengths based and person-centered treatment to help others find their path.

I have been in mental health since 1995. I became licensed as a therapist in 2007 and achieved terminal licensure in 2009 as an LPC. I have experience with a diverse range of mental health issues. I understand the relevance of our past but focus on where you are in the present and what is impacting you today. I take a solution-focused, strengths-based, and reality-oriented approach to problems, seeking ways to improve people’s current issues. My experience has taught me to actively listen and quickly identify areas of concern to find solutions. I consider myself similar to a mechanic; I diagnose a problem and process ways to fix it.

Life can be a wonderful journey filled with great times, fun, joy, and happiness. Life's journey can also have twists, turns, and uphill battles. These troublesome times can appear in our lives as relationship conflicts, depression, anger, stress, anxiety, and more. While we all experience at least some of these issues at some point in our lives, we are usually able to work through them independently and then return to enjoying life. However, sometimes these issues keep us stuck in one place and prevent our lives from being enjoyable. Seeking help from the right therapist can make a world of a difference.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
