I can help you improve your relationships with boundaries & communication or help you get through tough adjustments, chronic depression, and anxiety.
I am so glad you made it to this step in deciding to start your own personal counseling journey! I am passionate about teaching adults and children that being in our emotions, feeling our emotions and understanding our emotions is okay and important for us to do. I also strive to help people understand that therapy is not only for the “sick” but also for the healthy. I understand it is hard to decide to make an appointment. However, by making that decision now, we can join together in a safe space and talk openly about your source of pain, your struggles, and challenges.

All of us, at one time or another, need a little guidance in navigating life. I work with children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety, depression, addiction, stress, and everyday life issues. Ships don't sink because of the water around them; ships sink because of the water that gets in them. Don't let what's happening around you get inside you and weigh you down. -Unknown

People often ask me the trick to being happy in this life... Time and time again, the old adage about "knowing the difference between the things you can and cannot change" remains as true as any I've found. Most of the people that walk into my office haven't yet identified which situation they're facing. Their anxiety, depression, relational conflict, and other struggles are fueled by their struggle come up with either a plan of action or a plan of acceptance. That's where, through a process of listening and exploring, I can help you clarify your options for finding peace.

Life can be a wonderful journey filled with great times, fun, joy, and happiness. Life's journey can also have twists, turns, and uphill battles. These troublesome times can appear in our lives as relationship conflicts, depression, anger, stress, anxiety, and more. While we all experience at least some of these issues at some point in our lives, we are usually able to work through them independently and then return to enjoying life. However, sometimes these issues keep us stuck in one place and prevent our lives from being enjoyable. Seeking help from the right therapist can make a world of a difference.

I have experiences in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, loss and family problems.
Counseling is beneficial for anybody, even if you just need someone to talk to about stressors. To be honest, life be "life-ing!" Fear is an intense emotion that paralyzes and influences inactivity and sometimes we just get STUCK! We are continuing to become who we are everyday and at times we just are not okay. I'm ready to listen when your ready to share

For over 20 years I have helped people beat anxiety, depression and chronic pain.
I am NOT taking new clients at this time. Stop the Pain. Do you worry that others can see that you are barely hanging on despite your best efforts? Sometimes accomplished people feel they are crumbling under the strain of expectations they have for themselves. You do not need to feel this way. Depression, anxiety and chronic pain do not have to control every waking minute of your life. There is help and hope.

I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible mentors who have helped me develop the heart and skills necessary to treat grief, traumas, anxiety, depression and relationship issues.
There was a time in each of our lives, before hurt and fear took over, when our hearts were whole. For some of us, the pain is new and unfamiliar. For others, it’s been there as long as we can remember. For my clients, it’s something that they’ve decided to stop running from and to face it head-on. Whether you’re an individual picking up the pieces of a broken heart, or a couple or family trying to keep your world from falling apart, I’m ready to help you conquer your past. I can help you regain emotional control to breath and feel present and whole again.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
