There is a certain kind of validation and personal development that comes from authentic and genuine connection with another human. Sometimes, being with friends and family provides the support we need. Often times, we need an individualized safe and caring environment to share our deepest thoughts, feelings, fears, concerns, vulnerabilities, past and present experiences and hopes for the future in order to make changes, learn to be and accept ourselves as we truly want to be.

I'm a therapist with a passion for helping individuals heal from trauma whether it be situational or relational. I was previously a school counselor for 14 years. During that time, I learned that everyone needs a safe place to be themselves, share hard things, vent, cry, and process thoughts & feelings with someone who will listen with an open mind and an open heart. My interactions with students, parents, and colleagues deepened my understanding of the complexities of human relationships and the importance of connection and empowerment.

I truly enjoy working with clients ready for change, excited to break free from cycles that control their life. Wrestling with trauma, anxiety, relationships, sexual health concerns and/or pelvic pain, they are excited for a new chapter. They seek authenticity, vulnerability and the ability to advocate for themselves moving forward. They crave a life infused with hope, where their true selves can thrive, free from stigmas. Their motivation stems from a deep-seated belief in their worthiness of profound change. Collaboratively, we set goals to create safety and healing, free from stigma.

I am an LCSW (Licensed Certified Social Worker) who is passionate about creating meaningful connections and therapeutic bonds with my clients. I consider it a privilege to offer this to my clients, helping them perceive the world from fresh perspectives. My goal is to empower you to stand up for yourself, recognize your strengths, needs, desires, and aspirations, and work collaboratively to help you achieve them, ultimately becoming the best version of yourself.

Identity exploration is the heart of transformative therapy. You absolutely deserve to feel grounded in who you are, and it is my privilege to help clients explore the patterns or hardships causing inner turmoil. People often come to me with histories of emotional abuse, difficult upbringings, or toxic romantic relationships. Some feel stuck or alone in their current circumstances, and they want help navigating a tender transition. The introspective nature of therapy can be vulnerable, but the healing is often profound. Wherever you are on your journey, I will strive to help you build a more authentic and meaningful life.

I believe that success looks different for everyone. I work with you to identify what you value, where you feel strong, and what tools you need to build up your weaknesses. I have worked in a variety of therapeutic settings over the years and each one has richly blessed me with the chance to grow as a human. I have had the privilege of walking alongside those that are hurting in the pain of childhood, grief, and feeling misunderstood by people in their life. Therapy is hard work and I strive to build a good relationship with my patients that offers room to gently challenge unhelpful beliefs they are holding about themselves.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
