Right now, as you read this, I want you to imagine what it might feel like to find freedom and to put down the burdens you're carrying. Imagine what it might be like for your past to no longer control you or for your future to contain hope instead of dread. Come in, let's talk and let an experienced guide point you towards possibility.

I am trained in a variety of trauma focused therapies including EMDR, a type of therapy designed to lessen distress related to traumatic events.
I am passionate about seeing clients grow through working through and understanding their story and how it has affected them in order to experience personal growth, better self awareness and self compassion, and ability to live more fully in the present. I work with clients on anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and other stressors. Often these issues in the present are tied to wounds in the past that can cause us to get stuck in unhelpful ways about thinking about ourselves. I believe that working on these issues from a trauma-focused lens can lead to a deeper and more lasting result than focusing on symptoms alone.

My core skills include EMDR for treating trauma, couples counseling, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness meditation, and integration of religion and spirituality.
You've been in an office all day, and probably the last thing you want to do is go to another office and talk about problems. My goal is to do therapy differently when possible, whether that means going outdoors and taking a walk or meeting from the comfort of your own home via secured telehealth. Either way, you'll experience evidence-based treatment in a new way. Check out my website for more about what to expect. If you need one-on-one care, we can do that. If you're on a budget, check out my Jaunts, which incorporate hiking and groups at a lower rate.

I offer specific trauma therapy where we work on the here and now before processing past traumas.
Do you ever feel like you are just spinning your wheels? Hi! I'm Anna, a Licensed Certified Social Worker. I love working with clients who are ready to make a change in their lives and work towards progress. Sometimes progress is slow-moving, and that's okay! I think of it like a marathon: for the first 12 miles, you are closer to where you started than to the finish line, but that doesn't mean you aren't making progress. We show up, put in the work, and over time we start to see that we are moving in a positive direction.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
