Living with anxiety can feel like there are too many internet tabs open in your mind. Or like you're standing in a crowded place and nobody senses the danger but you, as your heart races and your mind jumps from worry to worry. You feel overwhelmed even when you think there is no reason you should be. Anxiety steals your identity and leaves you feeling lost and off-balance. Some days, just existing is exhausting. If this sounds like you, I see you. I know how it feels to live with anxiety, and now I help others learn to overcome it too. I would love to help you regain control over your life so you can enjoy it again.

Life feels overwhelming. Finding a balance between family and work while maintaining your mental health seems impossible. There are times when you want to take a break, but your obligations and responsibilities demand that you keep going. You feel like you are drowning, but you’re afraid to reach out for help. You know the frenzy of anxiety and the weight of helplessness that threatens to pull you under as you fight to keep your head above the water. I understand, and I am ready to join you. You and I can courageously navigate these waters so you can reclaim your joy. Lets work together, to turn your brokenness into peace.

Just by reading this, you are showing your strength and courage to take the first step to speak with a therapist. For many people, it is a scary step to make and keep a counseling appointment. People often worry and wonder things like, what will counseling be like, what will the therapist ask me, and will therapy really help me? When I meet you, I will commend you for your courage to come to counseling and we will discuss what brings you to counseling. Then we will make what I call a counseling GPS. This is a plan of how to get from where you are to where you want to be (through counseling).

I know it can be hard dealing with constant overthinking and uncertainty. Are you looking for solutions? Do you feel like nobody understands you or wants to listen? Or maybe you have a hard time dealing with your emotions? Your first step is to THINK about what you want and need. Second step is to TALK about your issues and concerns. Third step is to RELEASE what you need to allow yourself to be in a different space.

My goal is to give you 100 percent every time you set foot in my office. I want you to know, without a doubt, from the time you become my client, that I care about your outcome and will do everything within my ability to assist in helping you make the needed changes that will get you where you want to be. I got into this business for several reasons. One is because I love Psychology. Another reason is because I love being part of a positive change in this world. The third reason is because I love helping people. I truly believe this is what was meant for me to do with my life. I absolutely do what I love and love what I do.

LIFE. It’s full of twists, turns, and challenges. Whenever life happens, you don't have to face it alone. As a trauma-informed psychologist, I use evidence-based therapies to help you recover, regain, realign, restore, rebuild, and thrive. In the confidence of a therapeutic environment, you, your children, or loved ones can release the weight of traumatic and/or stressful life experiences such as sexual assault, childhood trauma, domestic or community violence, traumatic grief, divorce, parental separation, natural disasters, serious accidents or illnesses, or military/combat trauma. There is a better life ahead! It begins today.

Watch video bio on my website! When someone comes into my office, they are seeking change. Maybe you’re stuck in an ongoing trauma response that you just can’t shake. Maybe those you love the most have hurt you or you’ve hurt them. Perhaps you know logically how you’d like to interact with healthy sexuality, but your reality is far from that. I get all of that. I work with clients for these reasons and more. I help clients not only become unstuck, but find their lost, true self so they can walk in freedom and renewed relationships.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
