I have been a clinical psychologist for over 30 years. My principal orientation to therapy is cognitive behavioral—I believe that we can impact the way we feel about our lives by changing the way we interpret events and relationships. That being said, I bring to therapy a wealth of life experiences, including being a husband, father and an attorney.

You have been sitting with your thoughts and seem to recycle your memories. You are excellent at suppressing your hurt and stay busy with work and life as a distraction. You may no longer connect with others the way you used to and keep friends and family at a distance. The Pandemic may have increased your anxiety and depression and you are uncertain where to begin. Your worry and fear come out as: anger, sadness and controlling behaviors, due to questioning your worth and self esteem. Will I ever feel truly happy? Will I feel truly loved? Will I find my life path and the career that makes my soul soar? Will I learn to forgive?

Hi- I’m so happy you’re here! Being human is not always easy, and, at times, navigating what life has to offer can feel complicated or overwhelming. Because of this, we all sometimes need some extra support, a listening-ear, or a safe space to just talk about everything and anything. I would love to work with you to build a safe, meaningful, and collaborative space to explore your thoughts and emotions while also helping you to develop new skills, understandings, and ways of healing.

The population I work with are adults, ages 25+. I offer individual and couples' therapy sessions. My practice as a psychotherapist has always been to help the individual to deal with daily shortcomings and vicissitudes of life. Many times, this is a result of learned behavior acquired in the course of their emotional/psychological developments from early childhood to present.

I am a motivational therapist. I teach what helped me to stop feeling preoccupied with pennies and getting occupied making millions. I will first understand you, where you are. Baseline. One of the best solutions to reduce depression (the past) and anxiety (the future) is to joyfully live in the present. The "broken records" of verbal and other addictions are not your friends. Joy and productivity are your friends, along with the friend who never offers you negative news. As we learn, changes must generalize from each meeting to other settings with helpful tools for your greatest life experiences.

*Not currently taking new clients* Being a human is hard, and for most of us, no one has guided us how to navigate through the messiness of life. At some point in our lives, we might find ourselves lost and stuck. It takes a lot of courage to reflect inwards and work on ourselves. I'm committed to understanding your story in the full context of your experiences and helping you make the changes you want to see. Humor is also important to me, and I hope we can find ways to laugh together. I strive to create a therapeutic space with you that supports healing, resolution, and where you can practice skills that you can use everyday.

I've been in practice for over 10 years and have seen patients from three-ninety years old. Many transitions occur throughout the lifespan and during these transitions; some can be more difficult than expected and need examining for better understanding and practices. To do this I facilitate an environment free of judgement and help my patients understand their feelings and thoughts, as well as how to improve their behaviors to better their lives and futures. I enjoy my work and very much and strive to help people find their own voice, achieve their greatest accomplishments and successes in life, love, and work.

I provide an eclectic approach, primarily utilizing behavioral, humanistic, psycho-spiritual, and inner child modalities – with a specialization in complex trauma, shadow work, generational patterns, and the journey to authenticity. My practice is person-centered, meaning that I’m a guide in your exploration of self – I may be nudging and pointing things out, but you, as the client, are ultimately leading where we go. My goal is to enrich and point out the positive traits that you already possess, and offer acknowledgment into aspects of yourself or your circumstances that you maybe haven’t seen yet.

First and foremost, thank you for seeking out therapy. Choosing to be emotionally open with someone you don’t know can be extremely difficult. You might feel skeptical or anxious, like it’s a waste of time or I’ll judge you for what you tell me. You don’t know me yet, but please trust me when I say that neither of those are true. Regardless of your reason for seeing me, I am your advocate. I will stand with you and help you accomplish whatever it is you want to accomplish. Think of me like your well-informed sidekick.

Being human is not always easy and life can be quite difficult. There may be times when you worry about the future, feel angry or sad; guilty or ashamed; feel upset about the emotional pain you are experiencing; or feel overwhelmed, anxious and stressed. Therapy can help by providing you with the tools and insights to help you navigate through the most difficult of life's experiences. I believe our most challenging times in life can also be our greatest opportunity for change and growth-therapy is the place to nurture that process.

Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Therapists

Who is ABA therapy for?

ABA therapy is most widely applied to teach basic behavioral, communication, and social skills to children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders. It may also be used to help people undergoing rehabilitation following brain injury. It uses reward-based learning techniques to impart essential life skills. ABA is also used in the treatment of some other conditions. One is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) , to help children overcome difficulties with concentration and controlling impulsive behaviors. For people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, it is sometimes used to help them overcome compulsive behavior. ABA therapy is also sometimes used in cases of PTSD, to help people turn to positive behaviours when they have experiences that trigger distressing memories.

Why do people need ABA?

Children with autism and other developmental disorders need ABA therapy as a way to learn how to communicate and engage with others, improve their general ability to function and lead fulfilling lives, and diminish dangerous behaviors. The techniques used in ABA therapy are based on established principles of learning, and positive reinforcement—supplying earned rewards—is an important strategy for motivating positive behaviour change.

What happens in ABA therapy?

The first thing that happens in ABA therapy is an evaluation of the child in service of developing a treatment plan. The therapist meets with the child’s parent(s) in order to learn about the family and the child, assesses the child’s behavior and ability level, and then creates a plan tailored to the specific needs of that person. Once the treatment goals are established, the skills to be learned are broken down into small, component steps. Treatment sessions focus on learning and practicing each step, and furnishing meaningful rewards as steps are learned, behaviors are spontaneously implemented, and goals are accomplished. ABA therapists also train caregivers and families so that behavioral progress occurs beyond the clinical setting.

What problems does ABA therapy treat?

One of the primary goals of ABA therapy is to decrease the outbursts and other nonproductive behaviors of children with autism. At the same time, ABA aims to remedy language deficits and help such children learn how to communicate successfully. ABA therapy helps children learn age-appropriate social skills and gain skills, such as attention and focus, that are necessary for school.
