I enjoy working with individuals and couples with concerns related to anxiety, depression, stress, communication, life changes, grief and loss, and relationships.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, unhappy, or stuck, I am here to listen and provide support. The opportunity to speak with someone who is not a friend, colleague, or family member can help bring a more objective point of view to the challenges of life. My therapeutic style is conversational and honors your right to autonomy and respect. I will work collaboratively with you to create an environment in which we can bring curiosity to your situation so that insight and a way forward can be uncovered.

I most commonly treat anxiety, depression, trauma related disorders, anger, and mood disorders, among many others.
I love what I do, it is both my purpose and passion. I describe my working style as being one of a navigator. I help individuals navigate their personal struggles, desires/needs, and blind spots. I encourage my clients to take the steering wheel, while I navigate from the passenger seat. My goal is to ensure you maintain the right path and ultimately reach the desired destination. Ask yourself, am I inching closer, each day towards the best version of my life, or am I on the wrong path and going the wrong way? As far as my approach, my job is to adapt to you and figure out which therapeutic modality will be most effective.

I have special interest in working with individual who are struggling with depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, life transitions, Women’s issues, low self-esteem, and thoughts of suicide.
If you’re here, you’ve made the decision to find help, and I am so proud of you! Depression and anxiety don’t have to define your life. Substance use doesn’t have to control you. Stress doesn’t have to hold you back. Deciding to go to therapy can be overwhelming, and sometimes, it quite frankly feels weird! When you sit on my couch you’ll feel compassion, openness and honesty. We’ll talk about the future that you want, and together we’ll work to move towards change at your own pace. That might mean freedom, peace, joy, purpose, or just a day without feeling like you need another cup of coffee to make it through.

Do you ever feel like you’re living on the margins of your life? As a therapist, I work with people to explore their lives on a deep level because it is my experience that the more deeply we work, the deeper our healing. We will work together to identify what is holding you back, has you stuck. I don't think it is what's wrong with you; I think it's what's happened to you. You may identify the stuck place as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship isuses, blocked life transitions, creativity, or spiritual growth. You may recognize this as a yearning to deepen and grow.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
