With my therapeutic training, I'm able to provide therapy to people with various issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, mental blocks, negative emotions, and perinatal experiences.
You may be experiencing some difficulty taking care of your mental health but I'm glad you are taking the first step towards wellness, growth and empowerment by searching for a therapist. It takes courage to seek out therapy. As a therapist, I value the therapeutic process of reflection and relationship building through the implementation of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, EMDR, Brainspotting (BSP), Motivational Interviewing, and other personalized therapy approaches. Together we can develop plans to work towards reaching your goals.

I most commonly work with adults with a history of trauma, anxiety spectrum disorders including OCD, and borderline personality disorder.
I believe clients are the experts in their own lives and my role is to empower clients. We work together to identify patterns that are no longer working and develop more helpful patterns. Together we challenge perspectives without judgement that may contribute to feeling stuck or helpless.

My passion is helping clients discover skills to manage anxiety, challenge thought traps, question negative thinking patterns, explore self-identity, and reduce depressive states through processing emotions, mindfulness, understanding the nervous system, and implementing healthy coping skills. If feeling frustrated in the past/present/future worries, we can explore EMDR together to allow the brain to heal naturally. We can create goals, big or small, to uncover strengths and reduce feelings of being stuck. I also like to bring breathwork, grounding techniques, and tapping into sessions to build a sense of calm and create peace.

My name is Mercedes Carey, and I'm a licensed social worker. I'm interested in assisting people in discovering new ways to live a lifestyle that promotes healing on a mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual level. I use somatic approaches, such as mindfulness and movement, to treat the mind and body together. As a queer masculine-presenting woman of color, I know what it’s like to belong to multiple marginalized identities and navigate spaces where your entire self is not acknowledged or welcomed. I specialize in therapy for moms, postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression and birth trauma through brainspotting and parts work.
Pregnancy & postpartum is hard…maybe balancing a life outside of parenthood brought unexpected challenges, changing your world in profound ways. Maybe the joy of expecting or the arrival of a new baby, has left you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and uncertain. These transitions can be as disorienting as they are beautiful, touching deep emotions, possibly exposing traumas or intensifying fears about the future. You're navigating a complex mix of emotions—joy, fear, anticipation, anxiety and grief. You need someone who can guide you through this new era. You're seeking a path to feel balanced, connected, and whole again.

Hi! My name is Nichole Hutchinson and I became a mental health counselor in order to provide a supportive and inclusive environment to adolescents and adults, where freedom of expression, speaking your own truth, and the ability to be heard can all happen. What brings you here today? No matter the reason, you are in the right place. Are you feeling underwhelmed, overworked, stressed out, burdened, unhappy, or challenged in some way? These are all common feelings and yet they can make you feel out of control.

When my father passed away when I was ten years old, I saw my first therapist. I had no idea what was happening. I was unable to articulate my feelings at the time, so it was all very hazy. I realized as I began to come into my own that people gravitated toward me because I was easygoing and relaxed. As I learned more about the various demographics and pursued my studies, I became increasingly aware of my desire to work with those who lived with trauma, anxiety, depression, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
