Sometimes we know that certain things in our lives need to change and we may not know where to start or how to make progress toward our goals. Therapy can help individuals examine where they are, what they are struggling with, and help them create a plan to begin making changes in their lives and/or in their relationships. Trauma, anxiety, or stressful life events can make things feel overwhelming but finding a therapist you can connect with is the first step. Petunia, my 20 lb. mixed breed dog (DOB 7/4/21) is training to be a therapy dog. She is present during sessions but I can put her in her kennel if you prefer.
I have been working with families and youth in Des Moines for 20 years; I have past experience providing in-home services for families, I've worked with youth in residential treatment, within public schools, and I have worked as a licensed mental health therapist since 2013. I am also trained in EMDR and Brainspotting for trauma treatment.
I believe I can provide a comforting space for us to identify, understand, and work through your concerns.
