My name is Annissa, my pronouns are she/they, and I am an AMFT with Diaspora Therapy Group. My work centers on affirmation, empowerment, and celebration of intersectionality. Many clients have come into therapy seeking someone who can resonate with the feeling of being forgotten, misunderstood, or told that they are both “too much” and “not enough”. In our work together, clients and I explore all aspects of their identity while navigating and acknowledging challenges faced through systemic issues. Together we can collaborate to foster a safer space to authentically work, talk, and feel without fear of judgment.
Person-centered, multicultural, and feminist therapies influence my therapeutic approach. In my work, I aim to bring empathy, understanding, and advocacy to client sessions. I have experience working with issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief and loss, trauma, racial identity, LGBTQIA+, and gender-expansive concerns.
Often with the stressors of everyday life, it may feel like there is no time for you to be with yourself. In our collaboration, our sessions would be dedicated to you and a safer space for self-expression and exploration. I look forward to our work together and I appreciate being a part of your journey.
