I have been working with children, adolescents, and young adults in school and outpatient settings since 2007. Currently, I primarily work with children through middle adulthood in therapy and also provide psychological assessment for all ages. My adolescent and adult therapy clients are seeking help with ongoing mood issues or intrusive thoughts. They want to gain perspective and learn skills to reduce out of proportion emotional responses. Younger clients may struggle with mood dysregulation or behavioral issues and their parents want effective tools to use in daily life and perspective on their child's behavior.
My goal is never to eliminate any emotion. I want to teach my clients to anticipate when feelings/thoughts will show up so that they can make thoughtful choices about how they will deal with life's inevitable discomfort. I strive to partner with parents when working with children and teens in order to have the most impact on the family system.
I have navigated the therapy and assessment process at various times with my own children and value every client's time and resources. I am excited to provide you with any resources I have, and research ones I don't. We may not be able to change your circumstances, but we can change how you think about, and cope with them!
