Seeking therapy is a courageous act of self-care, and I aim to honor your bravery in a safe, warm, and affirming environment. I tend to work with teens and emerging adults navigating anxiety, negative body image, complex family dynamics, and the impact of trauma and difficult childhood events. Often, my clients’ issues and experiences lead to coping mechanisms that impede health: negative self-talk, disordered eating, compulsive behaviors, and blurry family boundaries. Our work will approach these behaviors with compassion and curiosity, and offer you a non judgemental space to work toward a more fulfilling and embodied life.
I generally use a psychodynamic lens, where we slowly and sensitively discuss the role early experiences might be playing in your current life. Negative behaviors and relational patterns may have helped you function in stressful or traumatic environments; we will honor your past, and practice healthier coping skills to build a sense of safety in the present.
We will also use behavioral and somatic strategies when appropriate. I strongly believe in the principles of trauma-informed care: safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.
