I am a licensed professional counselor and certified addictions counselor and have worked with adults and adolescents since 1997. My current and former experience has taken place in various locations including high schools, colleges, outpatient substance abuse rehabilitation, and both group and individual private practices. Whether you are working through a tough situation or wish to explore patterns that create difficulties, we will collaborate using curiosity and compassion to gain a better understanding of your story and your strengths.
I draw largely from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) , mindfulness meditation theories and practices, and solution-focused therapy to develop this understanding and create an action plan.
The work done between sessions is as important as the time spent in session so homework is encouraged at your pace to put new awareness and choices into practice. Taking this step can be scary but also incredibly rewarding. My primary goal is creating a safe and supportive environment for self-exploration and risk-taking.
