I believe Play is an antidote to perfectionism, and my favorite intervention is something I call "exposure to compliments" which helps to build a sense of safety in the practice of being kind & gentle with ourselves. Self-compassion (or lack thereof) is often at the root of many other struggles in the mental wellness realm. By working in a trauma-informed way to heal the roots of your metaphorical plant, we can make a much bigger impact on creating a more easeful daily lived experience for you with much less time and effort than other more specific approaches.
I adore working with humans who struggle to be kind to themselves or who are often told things like "You put too much pressure on yourself." You may not believe my compassion for you at first. My job is to hold it consistently until you can see (and deeply trust) your worthiness of your own accord.
I work with my clients in our first session to determine what their Favorite Future Self will look like once they consider themselves done with this chapter of therapy. Together, we set actionable and quantifiable goals in pursuit of that future and work toward them collaboratively.
