I'm Anita Sandler, a California Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience. I have worked in a variety of settings including outpatient, inpatient, and community mental health clinics. I have had great success helping clients overcome symptoms related to depression, anxiety, and trauma. I also provide counseling to couples/families to increase communication skills, and to survivors of domestic violence to help recapture their confidence. The theoretical orientation that I prefer is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, and behavior are interconnected.
I communicate in a fairly direct way with my clients. Not only do I provide them with skills, but I like to provide information about why the skills work. My tone is soft and friendly. Although I provide treatment through telehealth platforms, I strive to make eye contact with clients so that I can ensure them that I am thoroughly engaged in the process.
The first sessions consist of sharing information about myself, telehealth sessions, the limits of confidentiality, and policies related to scheduling appointments.
