I have experience working with individuals experiencing performance anxiety, lost movement syndrome, general anxiety, hyperactivity, impulsivity, inattentiveness, disruptive behaviors, anger issues, trauma, fearfulness, and oppositional defiance.
I work with adults, adolescents, and children looking for assistance with a variety of areas such as anxiety, disruptive behavior, adjustment or self-regulation issues, and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. People often want to find strategies to help improve their lives and families search for strategies to help their child be more successful at home, child care, school, or in the community. I offer a straight forward, judgement free setting in a comfortable environment. I also work with athletes and performers working to overcome performance anxiety or recover from injury and take their skills to the next level.

I have experience in anger management counseling, too.
I have a passion for helping people who are in need. I want to help them develop the skills necessary to do whatever it is they want to do. In my field, that's often a goal of sobriety and recovery. It's not for me to decide what is best for my clients. I try to help them determine if their current actions help or hinder their own goals in life. I offer a place where my clients can be themselves without receiving any judgement from me. I help clients in their areas of need, and in the areas in which they want help. I believe an honest, caring therapeutic relationship is important to provide the help my clients need.

Did you ever watch the movie, "Forrest Gump"? This movie has one of my favorite quotes, "My mama always said, Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." This makes perfect sense to me. I too am often sideswiped at the surprises in life. Ever since age 12, I'd ask every wise person I knew about each new life surprise. Then I'd read every book I could find on the topic. I now share this knowledge with you in bibliotherapy-the use of books in therapy (& cinema-therapy). I also have vast life experience. Another way to look at how therapy helps is this, imagine that you've been travelling down the road

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
