My ideal client could have a variety of substance abuse issues. They use the tools in their person-centered care plan to work on their recovery and become the best version of themselves without the hindrance of addiction. My client needs my support, and they need to feel safe with me as they work their recovery journey. We will work together and along with the support of family they will reach their goal of freedom from addiction.
I can offer tools to combat alcohol and drug addiction. I will also explore why the addiction exists. What is the client trying to compensate for by using substances? What is the payoff for the client? I will work with my client to help them develop healthy habits to replace unhealthy ones.
I will provide a safe, healthy, non-judgmental space for clients to talk about their struggles. I will walk with them through each step of recovery. I will provide a listening ear in times of chaos and despair. I celebrate each victory no matter how small. Everyone has the potential to be healthy and successful.
