I am a psychologist with expertise in working with concerns related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, living with a chronic illness (cancer, pain), grief, identity formation, relationships, men's issues, family-of-origin, life transitions, and existentialism (values, meaning-making). Outside of my clinical practice, I am a Professor of Psychology at Brooklyn College in NYC, with extensive teaching experience at the university-level and research program (over 20 peer-reviewed publications), including funding from the National Institute of Mental Health.
My approach to therapy is evidence-based and specific to your needs: you are the expert on yourself and my role is to facilitate the healing process. My treatment approach is integrative, but I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and strengths-based approaches. I also conduct diagnostic evaluations.
Choosing a therapist is a deeply personal decision and I recognize the many emotions which can underlie this choice. My goal is not for you to be in therapy forever; I want to help you learn the tools to process, make sense of, and respond more flexibly to life's complexities. Feel free to reach out for a consultation to see if we could be a good fit.
