Not every therapist is for a client and not every client for a therapist. The Client-Clinician relationship is of greatest importance. I work with a variety of populations, presenting issues, and within different realms of interventions and theories. It is not a one shoe fits all. I meet the client where they are and work accordingly. Now that is not to say I do not nudge gently with a soft challenge. If I didn't I would not be doing my work, nor the service you (and everyone) deserves! I utilize animals within therapy work in sessions.
Working from a humanistic view, I'm known by many past/current clients as the appreciated, "out-of-the-box" therapist, who's style is said to be more "REAL". The real-world "we" perspective I take, attracts many who's prior experiences had left a "bad taste" in their mouth. The ability to be flexible, allowing us both to be our unique selves is imperative.
Working through any challenge is difficult. Providing the upmost sincere authentic working relationship is my goal, ALWAYS. I provide an array of different coping means such as animals, art, and music to name a few. I have a different idea to an approach...it simply is to ONLY treat another how I want others to treat ME!
