My name is Amber Smith, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I view therapy as a collaborative experience between myself and the client. My role is to support you in developing new skills and insights that will allow you to grow and thrive. I work with adults who are experiencing mild to moderate depression and anxiety symptoms, life transitions, job related stress, and low self-esteem. I am also trained in Perinatal Mental Health and specialize in working with Mother's who are experiencing anxiety and/or depression symptoms in their postpartum period and beyond.
At a young age I realized that people felt comfortable when talking with me and often shared personal struggles. I felt honored that they felt safe enough to share details of their private life. I wanted to use this skill in a way that could help a large number of people and realized that becoming a therapist would be a perfect fit.
I use a collaborative approach to goal setting with my clients. I feel clients are experts of their own lives and know exactly what areas/symptoms they would like to focus on. Through exploration of these symptoms, I will support the client in developing specific therapeutic goals that are measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound.
