Becoming a parent can be both extremely rewarding yet filled with challenges. The transition to parenthood can be overwhelming physically and mentally. Parents often think to themselves, what did I get myself into? Whether its unexpected fertility struggles, grief for your old life, managing the challenges of a newborn, older siblings or infant colic there are so many factors that can compound the transition. The anxiety and depression that come with these challenges can be a common experience.
My goal for each client is for them to identify their strengths, establish hope for the future, and formulate coping techniques for any distressing symptoms. I use a client centered approach as well as ACT and CBT techniques to help people identify problematic thoughts and behaviors that may be contributing to their depression and anxiety.
I have tremendous belief in the importance of both physical and mental health for overall wellness. I encourage clients to find ways to take care of their bodies and minds while caring for their families. It really takes a village and I would love the opportunity to be apart of yours.
