Hi, I'm Amanda! I'm a Caribbean-Indian immigrant with a passion for destigmatizing mental health issues. I obtained my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lynn Univesity and I specialize in working with clients interested in coping with their trauma and breaking generational cycles. Trauma is the seed that births a vast majority of mental health disorders affecting everyone, thus I am inclusive of all ages, ethnicities, and genders. Some therapeutic techniques I use are Somatic Experiencing, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) & Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) & Gottman Method.
Trauma creates shame and guilt, and if left unaddressed, it could lead to self-sabotaging behaviors. I aim to help you build awareness and transform those behaviors with time-efficiency. It is my responsibilty as your therapist to create a safe space for you to process your trauma and develop awareness and understanding of its impact.
When we first start working together, you can naturally experience urges to resist making changes. I understand there are many reasons for this resistance and I do not judge you for it. I will empower you to regain control over your well-being and increase your self-agency. I will advocate and connect you with resources that facilitates your healing.
