My name is Amanda Kay. I am a licensed Marriage Family Therapist. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are looking to improve their emotional health. I approach therapy from the perspective that the individual is the expert on their life. I offer skills to improve communication and emotional stability. I offer skills from a variety of evidence-based modalities such as Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and other modalities.
When we first meet, I will ask you what you are hoping to get out of therapy with me. This will help us set goals. I typically encourage clients to set 1-2 goals. We will revisit the goals during sessions to help us guide the therapeutic experience. Goals may change during the course of treatment as you and I feel it may be helpful.
In the first session we will talk about the consent to treatment and limits of confidentiality. This is a good time to ask any questions you may have about treatment, confidentiality, or me. I will ask what brought you to therapy and what you hope to get out of therapy with me.
