Hi, my name is Allison. I've been a therapist for thirty years working with individuals and teens who have experienced trauma. I specialize in Attachment and Complex Developmental Trauma . My clinical orientation in Attachment is specialized in complex family systems and relational (complex) trauma. I'm the co-author of the 'Seven Core Issues in Adoption and Permanency: A Comprehensive Guide to Promoting Understanding and Healing in Adoption, Foster Care, Kinship Families and Third Party Reproduction', as well as 'The Seven Core Issues Workbook for Parents of Traumatized Children and Teens'. I work with individuals who have been exposed to trauma, violence, neglect, abandonment and attachment disruptions. These experiences can create disabling behavioral patterns affecting the mind, emotions and body. Complex trauma related to grief/loss, neglect, abuse and abandonment can make individuals or parents feel overwhelmed, triggered or anxious.
Learning effective strategies to create a healing path for our own life and journey is always possible. We cannot shame ourselves into change, we can only love our selves into evolution. The group is currently being done via zoom and is for adult adoptees only. It is focused exclusively on the needs of adults who have been adopted. Adoption, as experienced by the adoptee, begins with loss and can create unique and complex issues related to attachment, rejection, grief and identity.

Our parent support group is currently be done via zoom. Becoming a parent to a child with a history of loss, neglect, trauma and/or disrupted attachments can be both challenging and rewarding.
