Hello! Life presents challenges at every age and every stage of human development. Most of the time, people are able to manage these challenges by themselves or with the help of family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors. There are occasions, however, when the usual resources are not enough. That is when a mental health professional can be of great use to an individual, couple or family by identifying existing strengths, skills and resources and helping to develop new ones.
A therapist is a witness to a person's story. How we respond to difficulties in our life depends, in large part, on the story that we tell about ourselves. Often, we define ourselves by events of the past or by negative beliefs. We become stuck with ideas, habits or addictions that limit our ability to find love, work or happiness.
It is possible to create a new narrative for yourself or family. This is challenging but can lead to great adventures! There are a number of therapeutic approaches to use, but establishing a trusting relationship is key. I welcome the opportunity to hear your story and find a way to co-create a future that brings you better health, joy and contentment.
