My primary goal is to help restore the power of the individual, to the individual. It is difficult to create ourselves to our true self until we uncreate the thinking and believing that is causing our distress because "whatever we resist, persists." To empower those I work with to see acceptance as a possible way out of their distress by realizing their true control in any given situation. This begins to uncreate the old thinking and responses that lead to further distress. To help those heal to freedom by removing danger, not increasing it, by providing effective tools of creation through improved thought, word and action.
My experience spans many years working with anxiety, depression, OCD, addictions, personality disorders, eating disorders, profound grief/loss, single episode and complex PTSD. trauma. Working with at-risk youth and in a school district as a school psychologist gave me many opportunities working effectively with youth. I treat with CBT and EMDR.
Together, we identify and understand the source of struggle and then change the beliefs and meanings about the distress, which changes the emotions. We cannot change the external - others, the past, or the future, but we can change the internal by understanding the Illusion of Control and moving to True Control,
