I also work with individuals and families dealing with family conflict, trauma, and coping skills for anxiety.
Is it difficult to communicate your wants and needs to others, or even yourself? Do you feel like your relationships are not where you want them to be? When you find yourself going down different paths than you hoped for, it is okay to stop and ask for directions. If you are struggling with your self-thoughts, personal relationships, and/or marriage, I can help. The more I interact with others, the more I see the contradictions we often feel in our relationships.

I work with clients with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and many others.
Asking for help is hard and it can be scary. My goal is to create a safe environment and cultivate a relationship based on trust that will allow my clients the freedom to be who they are without fear of judgment or criticism. This is the environment where healing can begin. I view treatment from the perspective of attachment theory. This refers to the quality of the relationships with others in our lives, including our original caregivers. Many issues that people are currently struggling with are rooted in our early relationships. My goal is to treat not only the current symptoms but also the underlying causes.

Life can be hard! If you are struggling with challenges such as: marriage or relationship issues, infidelity, anxiety, depression, divorce, job loss, or low self-esteem maybe it is time to do something different. If your current efforts to deal with relationships, emotions, and life's challenges just aren't working, it is probably time to get some help. Maybe you're unsure if counseling really works. Counseling is no "magic pill" that instantly fixes your problems! However, it does help many people change, heal, and improve their quality of life.

I have the privilege of working with children (12+) and adults who are navigating various challenges in their lives. I am certified in Brainspotting, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy, and Neurofeedback. I have a particular interest in OCD, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and mood disorders. At the core of my counseling philosophy lies a balance between empathy and challenge. With deep compassion, I believe that every feeling is valid, though I also understand that not all emotions lead to a fulfilling life without thoughtful exploration and intention.

You can prove your anxiety wrong, and I can help you do it.
I help women and adolescents struggling with the effects of anxiety on everyday life. The lie that anxiety tells is that it will always be this way. The cycle of overthinking, avoidance & shame create patterns that feel impossible to break. Unhealthy patterns of thinking leave us feeling exhausted, hopeless and scared. Your life is meant for so much more. Maybe you’re tired of the personal struggle, overwhelmed by transition, or you’re feeling helpless as a parent to an anxious child, but something has to give. You are ready to come up for air and walk in the confident hope of your future. I can help.

I have years of experience helping people process and recover from anxiety, trauma, grief, stress, and life transitions.
I work with people who are seeking relief from unhelpful thoughts, behaviors, or feelings that are disrupting their life and can lead to over-functioning on a daily basis to compensate. This over-compensating can leave you feeling anxious, empty, hopeless, and disconnected from yourself and others. If you would like to reclaim your energy and sense of control within, I can help.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
