As a therapist I desire to help people move from a life of pain and suffering to a life that is happy, healthy and fulfilling. Helping people increase their self-awareness, gain insight into their behaviors, thoughts, feelings and responses; and receiving the tools to help them face and move through life effectively. As a therapist I strive to enhance my clients flexibility in regards to making adjustments as they move through life. After all, the only way out of a challenge is to get through it.

Lacey has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2009, and is a Counseling Supervisor with the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling of the State of Alabama. She received her Master's Degree in Community Counseling from the University of South Alabama. Lacey is a Master’s Addiction Counselor through NADDAC, currently a member of the Alabama Counseling Association and NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals. In her counseling practice, she approaches therapy with her clients from a holistic standpoint, helping them identify their needs which relate to their emotional, psychological and relational health.

The pressure to quickly achieve your goals have you overwhelmed. A few thoughts flow in and out: "I'm a failure", "I'm not enough", "everyone is judging me". I am an Allender Trained therapist working with clients who have significant stories of harm. My focus is in issues of trauma, addiction, grief, shame and relational issues for both men, women and couples. My training is in a narrative approach, helping people uncover their story, leading to pathways of healing. It is in relationships that we get wounded and it is in relationships that we find healing. We are storied people. Our stories include places of harm and trauma. I believe the work in healing and growth is uncovering our stories and bringing care to the places of harm.

For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of providing both direct and indirect mental healthcare to youths, adults, and families in my local community and surrounding areas. Although life experiences and observations of such has been my primary educator, I attribute my education and training, as well as positions at various for and non-profit agencies to assisting me with honing my therapeutic skills in helping clients identify and rediscover their distinctive strengths to develop new ways of thinking, behaving, and relating to others to achieve a better quality of living and relationships.

As an experienced therapist and a good listener,I most enjoy working with a client who is motivated to make some changes in his/her life, and who is willing to think in some new ways, as well as to attempt some new behaviors. I can easily support a client who is open, honest, and self-searching, rather than very defensive. I am usually able to help those with relationship issues to effect change, to help those with addictions and compulsions, and to help clients with depression, stress disorders, and anxiety disorders. I am also experienced in dealing with grief and loss issues.

When past memories and daily life are overwhelming, throwing us off balance, we are often left feeling powerless to effect change. Our efforts to protect ourselves from feeling painful emotions can leave us with depression, anxiety, anger, and relational issues, as well as keep us from experiencing the positive emotions we so desperately desire. As a trauma-informed therapist, I address trauma, PTSD, and Complex PTSD using Narrative Focused trauma intervention, EMDR, ART, and MESE. I am also trained as an 'Unwanted Guide' to help people find freedom from unwanted sexual behaviors that lead to shame and self-contempt.
