As a feminist therapist, mother, and intentionalist, I bring authenticity, vulnerability, advocacy, and compassion to my practice. I am incredibly passionate about supporting individuals as they work toward their desired goals and strive to build healthier relationships with themselves and others. I firmly believe in self-determination and autonomy meaning that while I can help you to process and navigate experiences, you get to decide the next steps. You can choose to opt out of chaos.

Therapy is helpful for anyone experiencing a bump in the road, or feeling stuck and in need of a guide along the path. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families who are struggling through painful life experiences and transitions, who may feel stuck or hopeless. We both bring our expertise to help you get to where you want to be: you bring your expertise about yourself -your strengths, and the ways you typically act; I bring my expertise in healing, growth, change and human development. Together we work toward more hopeful outcomes.

Compassion and comfort during our most difficult times offer us healing and peace when our world is turned upside down. Here is a gentle reminder that having someone to express yourself and to voice your frustrations can transform a crisis into a calming and beautiful day. Your presence and peace of mind is the most important gift you can offer yourself weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Therapy sessions are affordable for you when using insurance, EAP coverage, or need self pay options. You can book appointments at your convenience to get started or send an email to schedule an appointment. I accept clients of all ages and ethnicities.

I am dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming space for my clients to come sit on my couch and tell me what is going on. My approach to therapy follows the idea that everyone has a toolkit that is always accessible to them. Therapy is a means to add new tools, sharpen existing ones, and shed old tools we no longer need that weigh us down within our accessible toolkit. I, therefore, aim to align my understanding of your life to find a holistic means to help you to the best of your abilities. I am accepting of all walks of life and any needs specific to your individual lived in experiences.

Do you find it difficult to be kind and compassionate toward yourself? Are you mired in self-criticism or paralyzed by self doubt? Have you felt overwhelmed by life? Do you feel disconnected from yourself and others? The Persian poet Rumi very wisely stated that the wound is the very place where the light enters. Often it is only through the vulnerability produced by our struggles that we increase our awareness, move toward growth, and are open to making changes. We all experience times that we find ourselves struggling to heal from wounds inflicted by what we encounter as we journey down the difficult road of life.

One of the first things I tell clients who struggle with mental health disorders or overwhelming stress is that in today's society, with all the turmoil and uncertainty we face, it is a natural and normal reaction to be struggling mentally. While there is still a large stigma towards mental health and therapy I believe a great way to combat this is by understanding that it is not weakness to seek help, it in fact takes great strength to reach out to someone and admit that we cannot do this on our own.

Balancing responsibilities, relationships, and self-care can be so difficult. Sometimes it even feels a little hopeless. Having an adaptive relationship with yourself, with other people, and with the world around you is crucial for personal growth and emotional health. But what if you don't have a great relationship with yourself? What do you do when your Inner Critic keeps telling you you're not good enough?

Are you ready for change? Austrian psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Viktor Frankl stated “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”. I have built most of my work around studying trauma and the effects it has on a human. Trauma defined is an event or circumstance that is beyond a person's ability to cope properly. Many symptoms like anxiety, depression, dissociation, fatigue, and guilt follow trauma. Trauma is scary and I do not believe we were meant to do life alone. I offer to serve as someone who can collaboratively walk through the trauma with you.

Hello there. Within my counseling practice, I specialize in providing empathetic support to women grappling with the complexities of relationships (with self and others). Our connections hold profound significance in life, yet they can also be a primary source of conflict, pain, and confusion. This often sparks internal questioning and a variety of conflicting emotions including: feelings of inadequacy, feeling stuck, unseen or misunderstood, anxiety, guilt, shame, anger...to name a few. Creating a safe space to process through these emotions and experiences is important and offers opportunity for a more balanced life.

You find yourself stuck in the same negative cycles. You trust the wrong people and get into relationships that only leave you feeling manipulated, abused, and unsafe. They’ve taken away your power, your voice, and the weight of trauma has left you questioning your worth. You’ve tried reaching out to loved ones, connecting to your faith, and other means to address your concerns, but all those choices have failed. Your needs are not met, and you desperately desire support to make consistent, positive changes to succeed mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

Thank you for taking a moment to consider me for your counseling needs! I'm a counselor that specializes in children and adolescents, but has a wide scope of experience, ranging from severe mental illness, to parenting, to women's empowerment, and grief. I believe that the best counseling experience is derived when a person feels empowered enough to challenge their own comfort zone and explore their vulnerability, and I actively work to be the counselor that a client can do that with.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
