My graduate training dealt with adolescent male patients with behavioral problems, emotional intelligence deficiencies, sexual abuse history and suicidal gestures and ideations.
We treat children, adolescents and adults with behavioral issues, mood disorders, developmental and personality disorders. I work with parents to develop behavioral plans for their homes and families to supplement the therapy done with their children/adolescents in my office.

Life problems can create feelings of depression, loneliness, hopelessness, and anxiety. In therapy we explore the reasons for self-defeating behavior. As we become more aware of what we do and why, we can begin to make the necessary changes for a happier, more fulfilling life. Who would you be if you were all that you can be? The ability to be fully yourself, comfortable in your own skin, enjoying your relationships - these possibilities are in you, no matter how great the obstacles you have met in your life. Working together, we will build on your strengths, heal your relationship with yourself, and create lasting change.

The two goals I am passionate about when working with clients are "Being a Catalyst for Change" and "Empowering individuals and families to function in healthier relationships, as well as healthier, happier lives." Too often people walk around numb, fearful and stuck in their lives and relationships. It is my belief that you have the capacity to move towards living an abundant and authentic life. My job is to walk alongside you to challenge and inspire you in your journey.

I counsel on many sensitive and intimate topics. Are you struggling with marital issues, have an at-risk teen, grief, gambling, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, or a chronic illness? Is a relationship or career choice no longer serving you in a positive way? My office is a nurturing place that welcomes openness and individuality. I'm an outside the box thinker, a supporter of the LGBTQ plus community, someone who has a personal investment in your success, and can be the confidential sounding board that is difficult to find.

Most of us suffer adversity during our lifespan! I work with clients suffering from life challenges such as anxiety, depression, divorce, job loss, grief, or low self-esteem. If you are suffering from any of these challenges, maybe it is time to take a different approach. If your current coping skills are not working, now is the time to request some assistance.

It's been a weird last couple of years, hasn't it? In addition to the chaos and uncertainty in our world, you may also be feeling chaos and uncertainty in your personal life. Many people are feeling uneasy and out of sorts; you may benefit from short term therapy in order to cope with all these changes. Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, career issues, stress, grief and transitions are among the issues I address in therapy. You may realize something needs to change, but you're not sure what. An ideal time to consider therapy and that objective input. Therapy is voluntary; let's sort out what you want to change.

Whether it is trauma, suicide ideation, anxiety, depression, or just life struggles, I would be honored to walk with you through it.
Are you ready for change? Austrian psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Viktor Frankl stated “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”. I have built most of my work around studying trauma and the effects it has on a human. Trauma defined is an event or circumstance that is beyond a person's ability to cope properly. Many symptoms like anxiety, depression, dissociation, fatigue, and guilt follow trauma. Trauma is scary and I do not believe we were meant to do life alone. I offer to serve as someone who can collaboratively walk through the trauma with you.

Are you having trouble coping with your everyday lifestyle? Have you struggled with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, trauma, suicidal thoughts, or need help navigating through other emotional issues? Please allow me the opportunity to walk alongside you while working through these issues.
I truly believe everyone should have access to counseling no matter where you are. However, coming from a rural town in Alabama with limited resources, I have realized that many people suffer in silence due to fear of the stigma associated with traditional counseling or simply because there are not any counselors available within driving distance. For these reasons I am very passionate about offering flexible treatment options which include traditional sessions and virtual sessions. I counsel individuals, families, couples and groups.

I've helped many individuals struggling with issues such as: depression, anxiety, OCD, suicidal ideation, couples and family counseling, panic disorder, trauma, and phase of life transitions.
Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. I have learned that life is a beautiful, but sometimes difficult journey with many hills and valleys to navigate. We all have the ability to be amazing, but sometimes find ourselves in a position to have to relearn how to tap into our own inner strength and resiliency.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists

How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?

Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?

The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
