My specialties are depression and mood disorders, ADHD, anxiety, chaotic substance use, difficulty appreciating your body size/body neutrality, and complementary therapy for ketamine IV treatments.
What if you could walk around this planet with a deep sense (knowing) that everything about you, just as you are, is ok? Truly just fine? You can. Or maybe you're feeling stuck, needing help to galvanize your courage to make a change, to dare to live your very best life? A warm and supportive relationship with the right therapist will help to re-engage and energize your own existing internal resources, the parts of you that are already confident, calm, creative, courageous and compassionate. We can do this work together.

I have found that ADHD, is a tremendous issue for those suffering from alcohol and drug addiction and Depression.
I treat individuals, couples and families with the perspective of the whole system. Each person has learned beliefs and ideologies from their family of origin and bring those with them when they enter a new relationship. Helping uncover how those beliefs affect their lives is often key to the underpinnings of their problems and being able to decide what works for them is critical to being able to create a strong foundation in their relationships.

I have special expertise in Adult ADHD and adoption (author, “Be My Baby: Talking About Adoption”).
Building our trusting relationship is the surest way I know to reduce your anxiety, depression, and quiet those punishing parts of yourself that seem to threaten your confidence and safety. We work together to make room to experience yourself in new ways, to feel the ground under your feet. Our relationship opens pathways to your life to feel your better self. Doubt, fear and depression will be lessened. Relationships will evolve, and options will open. We will talk and challenge automatic thoughts. We will also use your bodily experience to bypass the loops of stories stored in your critical mind.

I believe that all individuals can achieve growth, resiliency, and optimal potential despite and sometimes because of their challenges through post-traumatic growth. In addition to working with individuals with mood disorders and ADHD, I have worked with medically and neurologically complex individuals though my clinical psychology Ph.D. program, which had a health emphasis, as well as my practicum experiences at major hospitals throughout the NYC area and my pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where I obtained specialized training in cognitive remediation.

I am a trauma-informed provider supporting individuals and couples navigating grief/loss, conflict, trauma and transition. I am passionate about supporting folks identifying with neurodiversity (eg. eg. autistic, AuDH, diagnosed with ADHD, etc ). Clients I support often struggle with the impact of stories about who they "should be", questioning, "Do I matter?" or shedding pieces of themselves to create a sense of belonging. Understanding our stories is one of the bravest things we can do. Together we can explore yours, identify your values and strengths, and pursue healing and growth.

I specialize in working with clients who are healing from childhood trauma, dissociation/depersonalization, anxiety, and ADHD.
What is most crucial for me in the therapeutic process is to assist clients in coming home to themselves: building their intuition, giving them space to validate their feelings, and to move towards living in alignment with their truest expression. I enjoy sharing mindfulness techniques and nourishing routine practices with my clients to help them become a more embodied, authentic, and present version of themselves. I believe that my clients know what is best for them, and I hope to help them uncover and connect to that inner knowing.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
