Why Strength to Strength Counseling? In my philosophy of the therapy process, people already have many strengths and resources when they come into the counseling office for the first time. Stress and strain, loss and grief, trauma, sudden life-changes, relationship difficulties, coping challenges, and mental health issues can lead individuals and relationships to points of internal distress and external behaviors that can be disruptive, distressing and concerning to themselves and those around them. As a result, individual happiness, relationships, family life, work, and school performance may suffer.
I emphasize a strength-based approach, using practical skill-building and positive solutions for growth and change. As a trauma-informed therapist, I also support/address relational patterns. When you or someone you love is emotionally hurting, struggling inside, feeling stuck, lost, or even at the end of their rope, it may be hard to see positive solutions.
Building on people's inner and interpersonal strengths, I help them to pinpoint their concerns and core issues, and develop their under-developed areas -- including communication, functioning, connecting, and coping. Aligning your actions with your own goals and values often leads to greater happiness and fulfillment.
