After years in education as a college professor, teacher, and principal, my joy is working with older adolescents and young adults. My ideal client is reflective and purposeful. My clients are typically young adults transitioning to careers and learning to “adult”, adoptees discovering their identities and processing trauma, and birth/first mothers navigating grief and loss. I support my clients through reflection, trauma processing, self-discovery, and identity development so that they can embrace mental clarity live purposefully.
My primary specialties include adoption with focus on adoptees & birth families and racial identity development and racial trauma. I have been trained in Brainspotting and narrative therapy and believe that the client is the expert in his/her own life. I am trauma-focused, mindfulness-informed & family systems-based.
I am a therapist, author, and educator. I feel fulfilled when I can use my education and experiences to help others develop themselves personally and professionally. I consider myself a lifetime learner who loves learning formally through research and training and informally from my interactions with people. I would be honored to work with you.
