I view mental health challenges as stemming from lived experiences. Family dynamics, traumas, and other events impact our ability to regulate emotions, know and accept ourselves, trust others, and form intimate and gratifying relationships. I believe both the body and mind are central components of therapeutic growth and healing. A main focus in my work has been the body-mind relationship in recovery from sexual violence, and I have also worked extensively with university students challenged by multicultural and diversity issues, and associated feelings of anxiety and depression.
I provide active, holistic, collaborative and solution focused counseling, using both cognitive and body-focused approaches, working to strengthen self-awareness/self-acceptance and life skills that help you exercise greater control over emotions, intimate relationships, and life choices, and engender greater happiness and fulfillment.
