I have been working with families in one capacity or another since 1978. I work in an open and affirming, creative and analytic manner to individualize therapy to the needs of my clients. I appreciate working with clients who are open to expanding their horizons and examining new approaches to managing uncomfortable emotions and solving the problems of life.
My therapeutic approach and intensive training is centered around Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT has a broad applicability and is geared to working with trauma, and mood disorders. DBT focuses on emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal skills and mindfulness. We also look at family of origin issues in addition to the stresses of life.
I believe therapy can help us find and keep our emotional balance. Keeping that balance can be a challenge since life can feel overwhelming. I expect clients to engage in the process and I offer my clients the tools to manage emotions and the support to challenge ineffective ways of thinking.
