Do you find yourself gripped by anxiety and worry, no matter what you do? From relationship to relationship, you keep finding yourself in the same negative cycle. You might be asking yourself: Why do I keep ending up in relationships with partners who treat me horribly? Why do I always feel like I have to be there for everyone else, but no one is there for me? You know you need to make a shift, you're just not sure how. You want to gain deeper insight into yourself and your past experiences, and you’re ready to change your “default setting” and start creating new patterns in your life.

I see all types of couples: for marriage preparation, struggling with relationship issues/conflict or those hoping to connect on a deeper level.
My training is in systems therapy, which examines the many facets of our lives interact. In therapy, we often look at how surrounding relationships and past experiences effect our current beliefs and values. If emotions and mood are difficult to manage, or there is difficulty adjusting to developmental and life stage changes, I offer support and tools to work through this. These challenges often arise for young adults, new mothers, managing intimate relationships and employment transitions. Too often, grief and loss bring up painful struggles for individuals and families. Therapy can be helpful in these most challenging times.

Do you avoid conflict, people-please, worry about what others think, or feel guilty about saying no, asking for what you want, or setting boundaries? These strategies, while aimed at keeping the peace, start a war inside of you. Eventually, the struggle can lead to social anxiety, low self-esteem, and resentment. If you have a pattern of abandoning your well-being, needs, and feelings to prioritize supporting other people in your life, I can help you listen to what you really want and bring your relationships back into balance.

Traditional psychotherapy works toward congruence in a persons thinking, emotions, actions, and life choices. Body-oriented therapy understands that the body is also profoundly affected by our life experiences. Identifying and releasing attitudes and old images held in our physical structure adds an important component to therapy. This promotes lasting change, allowing for free flow of life energy from within us so we can more fully realize our life, our joy. I am also founder of the Seattle School of Body-Psychotherapy, and enterprise of Body-Psychotherapy of Seattle.

If you are experiencing major life changes or transitions, if you want help understanding why you choose the partners you choose, if you want effective means of changing self-defeating behaviors, if you would like help with "emotional & social intelligence" both critical to personal & career success, if you want to learn effective means of communicating & resolving conflict in your relationships, if anxiety or depression interfere with your enjoyment of life, if you had losses or broken attachments while growing up, if you just want a very supportive community for dealing with the stresses of your life, then consider these groups.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
