You may be seeking change, healing, or understanding as you exist in the relationships and situations around you. Whatever your reasons may be, my hope is to provide a safe space for transformation to occur. I work within the context of relationship, believing they are what shape us, harm us, and ultimately heal us. Therefore we will work together as we explore opportunities for you to step further into your own voice and longings, finding freedom from anxiety, stress, depression, and fear. Making the decision to enter therapy is admirable. I look forward to meeting you wherever you may be.

Are you tired of the same argument, different day? Do your arguments consist of one person shutting down to avoid conflict, the other person feeling alone, and both of you feeling misunderstood and hurt. Things don't have to be this way. I assist couples in developing safety and vulnerability to strengthen the relationship bond and learn how to repair ruptures in the relationship. Many of us never learned how to have our emotional needs met, or how to respond to someone's emotional needs. It can feel as unfamiliar as being expected to speak a foreign language.

My work is ideal for people who have a desire to understand themselves more fully, and who are interested in exploring stuck patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior that cause suffering to themselves and the people in their lives. I work with clients experiencing anxiety and depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and issues around identity, including sexuality and gender issues. I also work with clients who are grappling with existential issues of meaning and mortality. I focus on the cultivation of awareness and acceptance in the safe environment of a compassionate therapeutic relationship.

Through the use of therapy and the therapeutic relationship, it is my goal to help my clients to heal and have happier, more content lives.
We all have difficult experiences during our lives. These can include loss, grief, change, death of a loved one, illness, and many other situations that disrupt our lives and sense of self. During these challenging times it is important to feel heard and seen. I am here to listen and to help my clients find and nurture their own strengths to manage through and grow from difficult experiences. Change can be sad, scary, and exciting, but it is my goal to help my clients work through all of these feelings.

Accepting clients. To survive in a traumatized, ego-centric culture filled with counterfeit images, we pay a steep price - trauma & pain in our disconnected bodies, loneliness & broken-heartedness in our relationships, an unmet longing for passionate, meaningful engagement with the world. Crisis, illness, pain, suffering & despair become the catalyst for change, awakening our yearning for a more courageous, authentic, embodied life. Speaking to us through symptoms, grief, images, longings, dreams- the soul calls- beckoning us into the unknown, asking us to surrender what no longer serves us. I help people navigate this wilderness.

Life comes at us fast and we’re not always ready for it but that’s okay! I believe that we all crave connection with our peers, friends, family, and partners. And when we aren’t working on those connections, we’re working to build our connection with ourself. To fully work through that and make progress, I use a direct approach in helping clients address concerns that may arise from their connections with others or with themself. I believe that the most progress can be made when it’s accompanied with empathy and unconditional positive regard - two pillars of therapeutic work to foster growth and a sense of safety.

It takes courage to ask for help. Life seems to throw us one challenge after another and we can feel weighed down by the stress of daily living. Sometimes we can lose sight of what makes us feel special and valued. I am here to work with your individual needs. Feelings of anxiety, depression, anger, and loneliness can leave us feeling disconnected from others. If we do not take the time to understand where these feelings stem from and how they affect us, we cannot begin to heal and feel whole again. I value you as an individual and want to understand your unique experiences. I want to help you to feel safe and accepted at all times.

I work primarily with individuals who feel bound in aversion toward themselves. Whether concerns manifest as self-hatred, shame, relational difficulties, terminal regret, questions around spirituality, depression, anxiety, or in any number of other ways, I wholeheartedly trust there is more to the story than meets the eye. I support our exploration by opening a receptive and creative space for truths that might not feel at home elsewhere. As we shift painful thought patterns out of isolation and into dialogue between two minds, new and surprising truths emerge. These can form the basis for new peace and possibilities.

Life often feels messy and leaves people forgetting our own worth, brilliance, and capability. Clients may be so overwhelmed by everything going on in their lives by the time they come to therapy that emotions become challenging to cope with, let alone understand. I take a collaborative strengths-based approach by empowering clients to examine and challenge the stories that they have come to believe about themselves. I seek to provide a safe space for you to understand your own life story and the contextual factors that impact that story and to grow more into your own authentic Self.

I think deep down we all want spaces where we can be totally real. Where we can say whatever we think or feel and not be judged for it. When we don't have these spaces, we learn to hide in order to protect ourselves. We don't say what we actually think or feel for so long that sometimes we stop knowing ourselves or feeling known by others. We get stuck in patterns that we don't want, but don't know how to get out of. If you're sick of feeling stuck, therapy is a great place to start. Once we make space to know ourselves, change can actually happen.

Apologies, practice is full! My practice foundation: each of us naturally moves toward thriving (adjusting to and overcoming all variety of obstacles we encounter in life). Sometimes, we face especially difficult circumstances that seem to delay this process. I focus on guiding and challenging people to identify what is contributing to their current difficulty and the personal and environmental resources available to effectively work through the situation. The therapeutic relationship is key, providing a supportive opportunity for individuals to get clear about change they want to work toward and begin the positive change process.

Working together we can help you with what gets you into trouble, being stuck, a loss, difficulties in a relationship, and achieving your goals. If you are a parent, we will work together to reestablish optimal development and family functioning. Therapy works in many ways. It helps us surrender unhelpful ways of protecting ourselves, learn how to be increasingly self-reflective, develop greater capacities to repair ourselves and our relationships, and augment resilience and happiness. I believe that the deepest understanding and change comes from knowing oneself better, becoming increasingly self-reflective, and experiencing oneself differently in the context of a relationship.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
