I believe that self-awareness is a powerful agent of change, and I strive to create a safe place where my clients can feel comfortable to explore and practice meaningful change within the context of our therapeutic relationship.
My therapeutic approach is holistic, client-centered, and solution-focused. Everyone is unique, and once I get to know you, I’ll use the therapeutic tools and methods that I determine will be most beneficial to you. I like to draw from solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy, all of which offer ways of viewing problems from different perspectives and the opportunity for empowered participation in the unfolding of new realities. With compassion and understanding, I seek to work collaboratively with each client to encourage investigation and productive problem solving.

Through our therapeutic relationship, we will work together to promote healing and growth that will help you reach your goals.
Life is complicated and we are all products of our upbringing, life experiences, and personal coping mechanisms. We are aware of some of these mechanisms and others, we are not. Whether it is a temporary set-back or a chronic condition, helping to uncover what lays beyond our consciousness and how that affects our thoughts, feelings, and behavior is a process that will lead to greater well-being, increased self-awareness, and fulfilling personal potential. I will work to understand your worldview, current constraints, existing resources and strengths, and apply an integrative theoretical approach.

My clinical interests include anxiety and depression, grief and loss, relationships, life transitions, and parenthood. Through my therapeutic practice, I support clients in building confidence, overcoming creative blocks, and strengthening their resilience. I'm excited you're here and I look forward to working together on building a therapeutic relationship and finding you relief.
Hello, my name is Gabe Guth and I'm so happy you're here! Sometimes the hardest part about self-care is just getting started and you've already completed that often difficult first step. I love working with individuals who have never been in therapy before to help demystify the process and create an understanding of why therapy can be so effective. Currently, I work with individuals experiencing concerns such as loss, depression, shame, social anxiety, and life transitions such as starting school or changing careers.

The therapist-client relationship is like nothing else in the world. As the client, you should feel unconditionally supported and safe when you’re working with me. I’m East coast-raised which has influenced me to take a very direct and honest approach to how I show up as a therapist. If you’re looking to be challenged, you found the right therapist! My style is all about drawing from Existentialism, which is based on the belief that we’re each responsible for creating purpose and meaning in our own lives. What is within your control and what is out of your hands? How can you learn to tolerate the uncertainty around you?

I utilize skills and techniques from CBT and DBT alongside Gottman-style work in relationship sessions.
Life can be isolating at times. This is especially true when you add in ADHD, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, chronic illness, and Queerness, cultural, and relationship issues. We hold so many identities and struggles that influence who we are and how we move through our place in the world. It is essential to find yourself among those identities and move into the whole version of yourself that finds comfort in the here and now. This includes finding your community and support through all that life throws at us.

I also work with individuals who struggle with relationship issues due to anger, domestic violence, or sexual addiction.
I work with those who struggle with anger. Often times the anger is brought on by unmet expectations and merely a symptom of deeper issues under the surface. It's my job to metaphorically stand in a place you can not see, and point you in the right direction as to the cause of what is contributing to the anger. By doing so, you can receive insight that will enrich your life and change it for the better.

The clients I work with are struggling with one--or several--of the following: trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, terminal illness, loss and grief, issues of abuse (psychological, sexual, physical), loneliness and disconnection.
Therapy is a safe place to grieve what hurts and build hope for a life of thriving, not merely surviving. Together, we'll find ways to calm body and mind, connect with yourself and others, and move forward with intention. Our work together will be a safe place to be who you are. Healing, freedom, and wholeness are possible, and I would love to be a part of your journey.

While my background, experience and approach are valuable and important, the most significant variable in therapy is the relationship that develops between myself and my client.

We all benefit from a therapeutic relationship.
Approaching Authenticity: Life presents challenges that can feel like barriers to our true selves. Whether struggling to cope with major life changes, managing feelings, substance abuse issues, sense of self, relationships, or "feeling OK in my own skin," we can all benefit from a therapeutic relationship. My role is to help people find perspective, empower people to take steps to make positive change, and provide a safe, supportive atmosphere that is free of judgment. My approach is client-centered, strength-perspective, and I work to create a therapeutic relationship in which people can discover and take actions appropriate to improve one's life.

One of the most important things I can do is to help mend a frayed relationship between a parent and a child.
I work with people facing all sorts of struggles. Some of the most common issues I help with include depression, anxiety, identity formation, and relationship problems between couples or within families. I have a lot of experience in working with conflict between children and adolescents and their parents. I believe in the importance of helping people to understand the roots of their behaviors. I combine therapeutic styles based on what my clients want and need.

You're no longer focused on your relationship with food and instead are living and making memories.
People look at you and think you have it all put together, but inside you are falling apart. Feeling like food or your appearance is the only thing you can control in your life is frightening, especially when you start feeling like you're not even really in control of that. The loneliness that can come with that is devastating. You're anxious, uncomfortable, lonely, and miserable. You're feeling out of control with food: bingeing, purging, restricting, counting, weighing.... It's maddening. You're ashamed and afraid of what anyone might think if they found out. You put on the mask and pretend you're fine.

I see the human relationship as essential to the therapeutic process.
My goal is to help people get better, heal, grow, and change. I believe about 1/3 of clients seeking help want help and are motivated to do the work to get better. I believe that 1/3 of clients say they want help but are not motivated and don't do the work necessary to get better while the other 1/3 come for counseling only at the insistence of someone else. I see my job as helping clients to see which group they fall in while respecting those who don't want/choose help.
