I see clients with a broad range of concerns but my areas of focus include anxiety, OCD, trauma, ADHD, and serving individuals with LGBTQIA identities.
Not taking new clients until Sept 2023. Therapy is an inherently collaborative process. Effective therapy begins by building a foundation of trust, understanding, and compassion. I see my clients as experts on their experience, their values, and their goals. My role is to work with individuals to identify and develop creative strategies, tools, insights, etc., to support their growth and healing. As an integrative therapist, my work is primarily based in Gestalt, CBT/DBT, Mindfulness-based therapies, and is neuropsychologically informed. My work is grounded in feminist/intersectional frameworks with an emphasis on cultural humility.

Accepting NEW Clients (ages 18-65) as of 7/26/24 for Medication Management (I am not taking clients for therapy). Appointments are available in 2 weeks. Complete the Patient Inquiry Form on my website. You will receive a response the same or next day. My practice is primarily composed of adults struggling with anxiety and depression. I find that people reach out to treatment when excessive worry, low motivation, and negative thinking can lead to feeling less confident in their work, behind on tasks at home, and impacting their relationships. I don't treat ADHD and I don't prescribe controlled substances, such as Xanax for anxiety.

OHP books closed w/exception of gender-affirming letters of support. Openings for therapy via OON/self-pay (mornings only). The past few years have led to major increases in stress, social isolation and depression or anxiety, and collective trauma (often leaving an unequal burden on Black, Indigenous, and other people of color). This may make it difficult to find joy, experience pleasure, and be active participants in our own lives. I provide evidenced-based supportive therapy for trans and LGBTQ+ young people (14 years+) and young adults (18-30s) experiencing anxiety, depression, or difficulty adjusting to significant life events.

I work with children, teens, and young adults. There are so many ways a young person or family can get stuck. Maybe you’re a caregiver caught in a loop with a child who has trouble with tantrums, sleep, or toileting. Or you’re a middle-schooler, teen, or young adult who can’t do the stuff you care about most because you’re feeling sad, anxious, angry, or having a hard time getting along with people. Or you might be struggling to heal from trauma, manage health problems, or navigate neurodiversity in an unsupportive world. It’s not your fault that you got stuck and it’s not your fault that nothing you tried has worked just yet.

I work together with my clients toward more self-compassion, awareness, and understanding. These bring about lasting positive change. I treat a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, addictions, interpersonal issues (i.e. couples counseling), psycho-spiritual/religious conflicts and abuse, sexuality, and pragmatic life-coaching, to name a few. I have extensive experience working with the LGBT community, some "out," others not; some religious, others not. I use Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT) when indicated, coupled with mindfulness techniques. I also explore with my clients deeper-seated issues, including exploring our "shadows" and the roots of addiction and shame. I serve adolescents and adults.

Or maybe you are bracing against the limitations of the gender binary and want to explore your authentic gender identity and expression? In your hardest moments, you may even face existential or spiritual questions of meaning and purpose.

Being able to engage in relationships and experience love without the past trauma effecting you. Enjoying time with your family and friends, not constantly worried about work. Actually, allowing yourself to take that beach vacation and not feeling guilty about it. No longer being defined by your past, and instead sharing it with others to pay it forward and help them. This is the life that's waiting for you, the life that's possible for you. If it was possible for me to achieve, then it's possible for you to and I'm going to show you how!

I'm a Certified Gottman Therapist with extensive training in conflict management, improving communication, and rebuilding trust. I've also noticed that deciding to go to therapy tends tconjure up every TV or movie depiction of a client and therapist sitting in a dimly lit room while the client talks and talks about their problems. They never show the actual work that is necessary for real change to happen. They just show weekly sessions, and BOOM… an epiphany is made and they’re all better. Sadly, many of us have been in therapy on and off for years, mistakenly thinking that this was all that was necessary. You want more than that.

Life can be hard, can cause twists, turns, and sometimes unexpected trauma happens to us or those we love. This can include grief and loss, particularly painful when it involves loss of a child or fertility loss. That is where good therapy is key to relieving the pain and understanding how to process such abstract emotions that often consume our entirety. I specialize in helping adults navigate such hurtles, particularly those attached to fertility related trauma, infant loss/miscarriage, traumatic births, postpartum depression/anxiety and bereavement. I welcome all those who seek support; therapy is hard, but you are here.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
