Whatever our starting place, it would be my honor to come alongside you, your child or your family to navigate towards your emotional, behavioral and relational goals.
I believe relationships shape our lives and our stories. They can be our greatest struggles, but also our greatest sources of meaning and joy. I work with children, couples and families, to manage challenges, process trauma, develop coping skills, and, so importantly, find connection points.

I work with individuals, teens, and children and families.
My approach to therapy is compassionate and direct. I will be respectful, but I will also be honest. I routinely give homework assignments as part of therapy, with the belief that if you accomplish the task you will start to experience the change you seek. I will try to understand both the nature and context of your problem and the potential impact of change before I offer helpful solutions. I will ask you about where you are trying to go, and we will work together to develop a practical plan to help you get there.

A special focus in this area is advocating for the children and helping them to find their voice.
Life is about relationships, with self, family, friends, co-workers and God. When we experience difficulties in one or more of these relationships it is helpful to seek counsel. I enjoy counseling with individuals or families to facilitate healthy relationships. I use Solution Focused/Strength Based and Cognitive Behavioral and draw from other theories to create the best course of counseling for each client.

I work through several modes including Play Therapy, Child Parent Relationship therapy, Emotion Focused Individuals and Couples Therapy, and Family Counseling.
Hello I'm Collin, and I'm glad you stumbled upon my page. We might be a good match if you are a parent struggling with connecting, parenting, or understanding your child or if you are a couple struggling to maintain healthy communication with your partner, finding yourself frustrated in a seemingly never-ending cycle of conflict. We may also be a good fit if you are a teen, (or a teen's parent) fed up with how things are, struggling with connection, or just needing a safe place to vent and learn coping skills.

I am highly experienced with working with veterans, children, and families, people of color, and offer Korean speaking sessions when needed.
The practice of being human is utterly challenging and incredibly complex. I offer empathetic support for individuals, couples, and families who frequently fall back into their own negative thought patterns and family dynamics. Using a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychology, and a Family Systems approach, I can help you recognize and better understand how an individual action may affect yourself and others.

Feeling Stressed? Overwhelmed? Need someone to talk to? Having difficulties with a partner? Or worried about your child? Please call or email for an appointment. I would really like to hear from you! Life situations and changes can bring a lot of stress. I bring calmness to sessions, while focusing on clients’ strengths. In the beginning, I will develop clear goals around behaviors or thoughts the client(s) wants to change, and a potential time frame for services. I use multiple modalities to connect with clients and accomplish those goals.

I am seeing clients residing in Oregon and Washington who are/over 21 years for individual or couples therapy at this time; child and family therapy in September.
Do you experience anxiety, depression, anger, PTSD, parenting struggles, relational dynamic issues or changes, or personal identity concerns? I am here to support you finding your voice within yourself and in close relationships. I believe that our past informs our present, in how we see, feel, hear, connect, and experience our lives. I find behavior to be an important opening to explore the underlying feelings an individual is experiencing in response to others. I view therapy as a collaborative process in which you are the expert of your own life and I am an empathetic and supportive guide helping create a brave, accepting space.

One of my focuses has been working with children and teens around issues such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem and relationships.
We are all wired to seek connection, love, belonging, and to be understood. Our internal (subconscious) messaging often tells us we are not good enough to receive these things. I provide customized and effective psychotherapy with warmth and authenticity. My goal is to create a safe, nurturing space and be present as we gently and collaboratively explore and untangle past emotions, beliefs, and experiences that are unique to you and your family.

Child Therapists
Child psychologists in 97223 provide mental health therapy to children and are experts in child development.

Every comprehensive review of therapy with children shows that all credible approaches, when performed by a competent mental health clinician, produce almost the same results. About half of all kids will get better. Of those that improve, 80% will show progress in a relatively short time (likely in fewer than six sessions), the remaining 20% will need longer-term support.

The best child therapists in 97223 build great relationships with the child and the parent. They also see the child's strengths and are open to hearing the child's possible solutions to the challenges the child faces. Finally, a good therapist appreciates the child's culture and is sensitive to the values of the child's community.
